If Brooks is out

If Brooks is out, Our chances of winning go down significantly against ISU. Brooks is almost as important to our offense as Ewers. For example, against tcu Brooks turned two good plays into two great plays: the 74 yard screen play and the 22 yard run for a touchdown. None of our other backs come close to scoring on those plays. Baxter takes the screen for 10, maybe 20 yards max ; and the 22 yard run maybe 5 or ten.
Brooks makes defenders miss. He has a burst of speed that is unique. I’m not sure we score either of those td’s had any of our other backs been toting the rock.
Without Brooks in our lineup our offense is going to be one dimensional— for the ISU game at least and maybe the rest of the season unless one of our other RB’s steps up to a level that they haven’t shown yet.
Brooks is not only our top RB by a long shot, he essentially has been our running game.
I hope one of our other RB’s steps up and proves me wrong

I hope we throw more and to more receivers. TCU couldn’t cover our receivers.

Watching Brooks try to walk after the injury, it is hard to see him playing next week at least and I'm skeptical about any games after that. It did not look good. I feel awful for him.

Almost impossible to replace Brooks. No one has that skill set. Not close. Unless Baxter or Blue takes a quantum step up, Sark will have to look at a ball control passing approach on run downs.

It’s deflating. In addition to being a great player, Brooks seems like an inspirational leader for this team.

I would like to know if the end of the tackle twisting of the leg caused the injury. It was hard to tell but there appeared to be a extra after he was down. I know it sometimes happens but is still unnecessary.

I think the ankle was stretched when Brook lunged forward at the time the tackler fell on the legs. What happened afterwards when the tackler rolled over and off the leg wasn’t consequential in my opinion .

That was my initial reaction, Chin. I felt like it was intentional.

He's certainly been able to make lemonade out of lemons, just like Bijan last year. I'm not sure any of the other RB's can do that, but I'm pretty sure Baxter can't. I hope Quinn can get healed up quickly because we're going to be much more dependent on the passing game.

Brooks, as Sark has said, is a natural runner of the ball. His vision and instincts together with his speed and strength make him special. At this point in time Baxter has the tools, including a bit more size, but is sometimes lacking the necessary feel or recognition in the instant he needs it. Hoping he’ll continue to improve because, physically, he’s got a lot to offer.
I’m really concerned about Barron too. He was hurting - I really noticed it on TCU’s big play up the sideline on the way to their second TD.

It could be that because of his size, Baxter got by largely on talent in HS. He didn't necessarily need to utilize recognition and patience to let his blocks develop like Brooks is able to do. We don't see Brooks waiting for his blocks, he tends to just bull ahead. Brocks has had time to develop that skill whereas Baxter hasn't. Hopefully Baxter makes progress in that area.

Agree except I do see Brooks, many times, being patient waiting for blocking to develop. Other times he just gets it going immediately - the experience and vision allows him to know which in the moment.

That was my point Rex, we see Brooks do that on a regular basis. He does what he needs to do, whether it's be patient, or hit the hole immediately. Hopefully Baxter develops those skills with time and repetition.

One of the most unassuming ACLs you’ll ever see. So interesting how some guys look like they got shot and some guys just limp off. It was sad seeing Brooks limp off to the locker room with almost no help right behind the end zone as our defense was getting bullied.

Anyhow, I wish him a very speedy and full recovery. He absolutely blew away expectations this season. Now it’s time for Baxter to show out.

If Sark and co will be more open to them we have more talent available than just Baxter and Blue and while I think they are both more capable than we might give them credit we also have K Robinson and S Red. Both of them bring a lot to the table IF Sark can devise some plays suited to their skills. I certainly think we have seen their desire.

Brooks is a special elite talent, but that doesn't mean he is irreplaceable. We have a capable stable of very high quality backs and while none of them are him...yet, if our coaches are worth their salt they'll know how to plan appropriately. We have an entire offensive unit of play makers, he's not the only one.

Gotta get JWHITT more involved in the passing game. Sure looks to me he has been wide open many times when the qb throws elsewhere. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me.
Your eyes are not deceiving you. You are right on. Unfortunately, Ewers is hyper focused on getting it to Worthy. Maybe at Sark’s insistence. But Whittington could be better utilized for the benefit of the team.

. He makes you miss then has unreal balance to stay on his feet or at least push off for a few more yards after contact.

Looking forward to seeing Baxter run as first rushing option.

break tendency - start Arch in Ames.
At this point the CFP is not gonna happen and rightfully so

Officially, a torn ACL.
This is tragic for him. I hope it doesn’t effect his ability to earn a living in the NFL. He should be ok in a year or so for whatever road he takes football wise.
This weakens the Horns. There is no one on the roster who can bring to the table what Jonathan does.
