The first two games for Idaho were cancelled. Since then, they've started conference play. It looks like their conference is using the Big 12 volleyball type of scheduling. Conference team play both their season games at one of the teams' site on back-to-back days. So far, Idaho has beaten their first conference opponent, Sacramento State, twice.

Stats on their victory as compared to our last two games;

60 rebounds? I hope Sacramento State weren't very good.

25-64 record in the previous 3 seasons so it doesn't sound like they are usually very good.

Looks like they love the 3 ball. They seem to be similar to Iowa State, but not near as successful.

In just a quick glimpse it looks like some of the Intramural teams when I was in school had more athleticism. Probably couldn't shoot as good though.

I’ve never seen a foul called on a defender for running into a screen. Pushing, shoving or otherwise grabbing the screener - sure. But who gets called for a foul for simply running into a blind screen? Am I wrong about that?

How does everyone feel about that win??

I personally think it was an ugly win in terms of what this team showed in the first two games. Defense was not there in the second half and our transition as well as help side defense needs some work and we won't have long to work on it Tennessee comes Sunday. I loved that the 3-point shots were falling. If we hit beyond the arc at a high rate teams would contemplate playing a zone against us and I think we all know our offense is at it's best when teams play man to man. Nonetheless a win is a win and I will take it:hookem::hookem::hookem:

Where was this outside shooting vs A&M ???? A&M didn't guard them in their face, so no excuse for the crappy shooting vs A&M. Just choked against Aggy....Today they are relaxed and are knocking **** down....

  • After a while, I would be saying, "Quit shooting the three!!!!" and then they would sink a three
  • Vic has been making Charlie defend full court, even on inbounds. No more hanging back around the rim for her player to show up
  • A couple of times Vic shouting "SHOOT IT!!!" even when players didn't have the best angle. More important to jack one up than pass-pass-pass waiting for the better shot
  • I was shocked to see Karisma in the starting lineup and stay in the starting lineup. Usually she plays about 4 minutes before Vic yanks her for someone else
  • Speaking of which, I like Vic calling timeouts even in blowout wins when he's unhappy with their effort. In the first two games he called timeouts near the 2 minute mark when the game was wrapped up. Always coaching.
  • He does yell out "GOOD JOB CHARLI" when they do well
  • Our rebounding is still just "meh". Have too many balls going through our hands
  • Refs did blow some real ticky-tacky fouls. But not as egregious as the A&M game
  • Again, like the A&M game no dribble-drive penetration. Was Idaho's defense that good? Unsure why our guards aren't will to drive in and draw the foul
  • Unsure how this style of play will do against Tennessee. But then, Tennessee is a ghost of it's historical self

Not sure if already discussed, but Karisma was 2-3 in 3-point shots against A&M in the first half despite not starting; but, don't think she even took a shot or played much after that. Thought perhaps she was injured, but since she started today and shot 3-10 in 3-point shots and ended up with 15 points, don't think that was it.

Karisma was my offensive x-factor going into the season; we really need her to be more offensive-minded going forward, especially against zone defenses.

Celeste looks miserable out there; body language has been very negative since the opener. Need her to pull it together for Sunday if we want to win.

They got pretty sloppy in the 2nd half, as if they were coasting. Not sure I liked seeing that at all but as was pointed out on TV, Vic seemed to be steaming over it too. You don't see Baylor or UConn or USC making a habit of getting up on an opponent and then coasting home through the 2nd half.

I suspect this will be pointed out and corrected in practices - play to a standard the entire 40 minutes, whether you are a starter, a sub, or a walk-on.

Vic mentioned that specifically in his post game press conference.

Man! I love watching these short news conferences. I haven't watched too many because I didn't want to get caught up drinking too much from the Kool-Aid fountain. But his candor about the game and the players, while still preserving their privacy (not throwing them under the bus) is so refreshing from past, dreary, depressing press conferences. Of course, this one was after a win, so there's that.
