I Phone? Yes ,, no... maybe?

I have one and love it.

Regarding the texting, I have a niece that's a senior in HS with an iPhone and she doesn't have any problem sending her 8,000,000,000 texts a day with it.

The bride has a 3g. Likes it for the texting and all the various apps she has. But it frustrates the hell out of her because it drops a ton of calls, way, way more than her old service.

A late reply. I have had one for several months and I like it. It is on a personal line that I don't use a lot but having recently fast internet access in your pocket is nice.

I don't have any "apps" except for the ones that came with the phone. It has a decent calculator for a phone. Overall I like it a great deal. The iPod features are pretty neat if you use them. I might use that a little more if I could figure out to actual "stop" music on the damn thing

You should look into the app store. to me, that is one of the strongest features of the iPhone.

One major complaint of most iPhone users is the battery life. It sucks and as with most Apple products you can't change it out.

What most people don't realize until they get the phone and use it a bit, is that the keyboard almost ALWAYS "knows" what you're trying to type, even if you hit absolutely none of the correct keys. It learns the words and proper names you type, too. I used to be a text addict and have no problem with the iPhone. Also, people that "don't use internet on their phone" just don't have an iPhone yet

It is true that Apple will not cover a shattered screen. But no cell phone carrier/manufacturer that I am aware of covers damage from dropping (unless they don't know about it). Just get a really good protective cover and it's fine.

dropping is only covered if you buy phone insurance, but that's the only way. Unfortunately, iphones have no phone insurance available, which is sad. AT&T could make $70 per person that has an iphone if they had insurance and i could see it being profitable.

Dropping a cell phone is part of normal wear and tear. You scratch them by doing so. Iphones shatter. It shattered literally the first time that I dropped it. That's ridiculous.

it's hard to be bored no matter where you are if you can use your iphone. Doctor's office, standing in line, it's a good stimulus when there's nothing else to do.

the map feature alone makes it worth it to me. Almost real-time traffic information, and much easier to use than my car's GPS.

Disclaimer- I don't know how other phones' map apps compare.

The two guys I work with have the Iphone. They love the phone, but not the service....lots of dropped calls. They could not use the phone inside our office.

I just picked up the Storm this week....so far so good. Hard to beat the coverage Verizon offers.

Apple service is very good.
ATT service is very bad.

I-Phone comes with ATT service. Terrible marriage. Reminds me of Dallas Cowboys and Barry Switzer back in the day.

I think AT&T coverage, like any other cellular phone company, depends on where you live and where you travel.

If you travel over a large part of the US and you want/need to have good service you probably will end up having 3-5 different phone companies. If you only stay in large urban areas you might be able to go with 2 or 3.

I love all the features and the cost of the newer digital services. I miss the coverage and the effectiveness of the old analog phones. I don't however miss paying several thousand dollars a month for a line that may have roamed over several states during a billing period.

Sooner Tuf,
You could just get Sprint. I can have up to half of my monthly minutes 'roaming' minutes for no charge (actually this feature is $5 a month). My phone also switches between digital and analog, so there isn't an issue there either.

I'll look into them. Years ago Sprint PCS only worked in major metro areas and frequently when you were in rural areas you had to use a credit card through an operator to make a call. You couldn't receive a call.

As of today. I use AT&T for my personal phone and it works pretty well and the bill is pretty reasonable. I have a couple of lines with US Celllular that work well in rural areas but there internet is almost useless in coverage areas, speed, and access. They are very inexpensive. I maintain some old analog phones for way way out in the sticks with a small local company in Oklahoma. Service is great, horrendously expensive per minute charges.

Sometimes I miss the days when you had to find a pay phone to make a call. I think those things are a thing of the past. I can't remember the last time I saw one of those in a podunk middle of nowhere town.

But thanks for the idea of Sprint. I'll look into them.

sprint sucks in rural areas, at least in the Texas hill country. at&t works fine out there but as someone said above, i won't switch b/c of their customer care.

I have a 1st generation iPhone and don't have any problems with dropped calls. Maybe the newer phones have issues, but mine is okay.

As to AT&T v Verizon and Sprint, I have no problems getting service at my Tarrytown house. But my mom has to go stand outside my house with her sprint phone to make calls.

I have had my iPhone for 2 weeks and I'm typing this on it now. The texting was tough at first but I'm used to it. I had a Palm Centro before that was great, but the iPhone does so much more.

The best way to get the protective screens on the iPhone is to run the hot water in the bathroom to steam up the room then apply the screen protector don't know why it works but it does. I'd recommend the iPhone to anyone and everyone.

Just got one today. So far, I love it, but I'll admit that I've not really learned that much about it -- just how to make calls, send texts, watch YouTube, and get on the internet. I can't wait to learn how to put Blazing Saddles and Office Space on it.

Can someone tell me specifically what sucks about AT&T? I'm about to jump ship from Sprint (after 12 loyal years) just to get an iPhone.

What makes AT&T shittier than the other phone companies? They're all ******, but is AT&T worse than the others? Why?
