I Got Mine

Hagy, did Griffin steal your girlfriend? Are you pissed you didn't get your own story when you got your degree? If it makes you feel any better, no one wrote a story about my graduation, either.

It's a PR story on Mack Brown's web site. It's the off season, ie a slow three months for football news. It's also recruiting season, perhaps a nice story for the parent of a recruit to read?

And here's the really cool thing, if it irritates you, don't ******* read it.

Sorry, I don’t find it remarkable that someone has graduated from UT. That’s the whole point of going to school-- to graduate, just like the other 8,700 people who graduate each year. Why is it so special just because he’s a starter on the football team? Big whoop. He got a free ride and he took advantage of a tremendous opportunity that the school gave him. He gave a lot to the school, but he received a lot more in terms of a free education and top notch training for the NFL. He’d be a fool not to graduate and take advantage of that opportunity (unless he could have made big bucks by entering the draft early). Why has the expected become exemplary? Good for Griffin and good for the other 8,699 graduates this year.

Hagy, It was a big deal to me when I graduated... both times. it's a big deal to just about everyone who graduates. this graduate happens to be a football player who aspires to play in the NFL.

it's not "bigger" than anybody else's graduation. it's not bigger than mine or yours, but nobody knows who we are and nobody cares. We didn't play football for the University of Texas (actually, i was a walkon in 1992, but that's the equivalent of not playing.)

Hagy, write an article about what it means to you to graduate from the University, and I'll read it...

Aggy gets a ring for a bowl game that they lost-then puts a score on the ring from a totally different game...but aggy is thunderstruck about the T-Ring.
Ain't that something?

I really don't see the reason for the attitude, we are just proud of this guy. Who freakin cares? Don't read the topic if you are that miffed about it.

If it doesn't matter to you, why would you want to come on here and **** on others who are happy for the success of our student athlete (as we should be of all our students). The "Somebody please help me understand this. Am I missing something?" schtick is weak.

Wow, I rarely lose all respect for different posters on here but Hagy has just changed all of that.

Perhaps you would find it intellectually interesting to note that 40+ posts on this thread (and counting) are all in agreement that Griff's T-Ring kicks *** and is worthy of congratulations and high praise. One poster out of the dozens who have posted has taken a ***** attitude toward it. Does that help you understand it?

I agree with Hagy.

However, these are COLLEGE ATHLETES we're talking about.

Clearly their work both on and off the field is so much more than I could have ever achieved through my engineering degree at UT. Sure it only took me three years and I worked my *** off for it, but please, I don't even compare.

Some of these guys will be making millions a year, while others will be privileged for years to come. Thank god they can run fast.

Besides, this is a Texas fans football board, what did you expect.

Why is it noteworthy when your sister graduates? Why was it noteworthy when you graduated? Did your family attend, send you a card, buy you a gift?
We are the Longhorn family, and we think it is special when a family member completes this meaningful hurdle in life.
Quit denigrating the accomplishment with your mean-spirited, petty remarks.
A simple congratulations, job well-done is always in order when someone does the work required to graduate from college.
