I don't see how a kid grows up in Texas an OU fan

With 2 of the last 6 RRS victories belonging to OU...I'd have to say the 'dog' had its day 4 times of the last 6. Sure we gave up the 5 prior...but don't you know that you guys were lucky to 'pick our worst teams' to beat those years. LOL I take it the UConn board is still busy...patience, that one server tends to hold only so much bandwith. You know with all 20 people talking about the big showdown at once, things can get overloaded.

mack brown has won the big 12 twice.......twice....in 13 years
Even though bob stoops has a winning record against brown, our season doesnt revovle around beating texas......obviously like your does. Thats because unless you beat ou ...your not winning the south....which cant be said for any other team(including texas)
even when we lost to texas, we still have won the south....why....because as I said we are the dominate team in the conference ...not texas.
The south championship goes through ou every year.....if you dont beat us.....you dont have a chance in winning the conference......and even if you do beat us .....(06 08) you still may not win the south.
when texas doesnt beat ou , they havent even sniffed the south.....ou has won it twice, even losing to texas......whos your daddy?

As i said you can spin streaks hoe ever you want.Funny you talk about the 5 prior years.......but numbers dont lie, and if you look at the body of work.....ou has owned the conference INCLUDING texas.
I want to play for championships at ou...thats our goal.

I would lose to texas every year if we won the big 12 and got to play for a nc game every year.

as i siad our season doesnt revolve around the rrr, even though we do have a winning record in it.....championships is what we are about at ou.
so brag/spin all you want about your so called streaks in the rrr , during that same time frame(your best run since mack has been here)we won more big 12 championships then you did.......maybe you shouldnt be bragging on that so called streak .......ou won more big 12s during it then you did ...hahahaha

In determining who is 'Daddy' for that season, the RRS winner is meaningless? Just wow. Apparently someone has missed the significance of that game to our two programs.

I'd be interested in hearing serious pro and con responses to jj's question about where you would send your own son, OU or UT, based on the current status of the two programs. What would be the positives and negatives of both at this point?

I'll go ahead and say that Stoop's accomplishments at OU exceed those of Mack at Texas. I think that is a complete sentence, you guys can now bash me for for whatever you please since I am on a Texas board and would expect to get bashed.

If I had a son, he damn sure wouldn't be my son anymore if he went to OU. He would either go to Texas, or if he wanted a great academic environment for a special field of study, Rice or Stanford.
I suppose if he wanted to major in internet smack talking via vague, rambling partial sentence fragments and grammatical assassinations of the English language, he could go to OU. They must have a nationally ranked program in that field of study.

texas ....the same school that kept vince young(set a record for lowest wonderlic score) and jamal charles eligible.

If I wanted my son to get a great education , I would seen him to an ivoy league school.......anything else(including texas) is just a degree.
But then again this is a football board, and if I wanted my son to grow the most as a football player, it would be at oklahoma.

But dont take it from me, there are several articles from pro scouts(guys that arent fans of either schools) that mock the texas program on how they are pampered and not prepared for the nfl.
I guess those guys(people that make millions scouting players) are just stupid ou fans too??

I'll repeat my original statement - I cannot imagine any valid reason for a Texas child to want to go to Zero U. I could excuse a child if his parents were OU grads, but that's about it. There are lots of good educational opportunities right here in Texas. And OU will never be anything better than a third-tier education. Certainly Texas, Texas A & M, Rice, Baylor, SMU, and TCU can beat that pretty easily.

hmmm better brace yourself......now we know why Boom got the heck out of dodge.
I have always said stuff like this goes on at EVERY school.
you can NEVER control it.
Stoops just like mack runs as clean as program (by their watch ) that you can.
but stuff STILL happens......and your about to find out all about it.
Mack isnt a dirty cheat.....either is stoops.....but stuff happens even under coachs who do the right things.
I dont fault stooops for what happened with bopmar and I wont fault mack when this stuff goes down either

Most OU quality recruits think they will play pro. They really don't care if the school is fair, good or better. Some will talk a good education case, but I don't think that is the driving force.

If you live in Dallas or East Texas. two areas that OU does well in, you probably live as close to OU as UT.

Texas is too big for one school.

It all depends on if he has an offer from Texas. If my son had offers from TCU, Texas Tech, A&M, and OU...I'd send him to Ou if that's his top choice. Almost every kid who gets a full ride from a top school like OU or UT has a 'chance' to play in the NFL. What I mean by this is on day one he has that chance. It's up to him to develop to his full potential, and hopefully he has enough talent to reach the pros, if that's his dream. But I realize OU and UT have far greater exposure than those other schools, most likely better coaching and facilities, and carry more weight in the grand scheme of the things. So with UT out of the picture, I's support the OU decision. You don't have to like a program to respect them and their accomplishments. And after all, I'd want my kid to have the best tools to succeed with what has been offerred to him. But yeah, OU stil sucks!!!

I lived 10 years of my life in Oklahoma, and hired several OU grads and worked with a number of others. I can tell you that if I had a son and I wanted him to get an education, he wouldn't go to OU. The OSU and Tulsa grads were far superior. So if you're sending them to college to get an education, UT would be high on the list for most degree programs and OU wouldn't be on it.

On the other hand, if I were sending my son to play football, then I'd have to ask myself who I'd want guiding my son for the next 4-5 years of his life, in some pretty crucial formative years. Mack would be at the top of that list and Bob wouldn't be on it.

Wasn't that the question you asked, jj?

And Merry Christmas!

It happens if the baby was dropped at birth... then you'd say what they say on King of the Hill: That boy ain't right!
