Unless maybe his family is Okie.

I can see a recruit not going there after watching one OU game and getting sick of the prospect of having to hear boola, boola a gazillion times over the next 4 years. That alone would keep me the hell out of Norman.

I can see a recruit going there for "business" reasons. Maybe if Texas didn't offer or the depth chart looked especially bleak. Still, I'd look at other places like LSU first.
 
I can kind of understand it, not everyone loves the Horns in Texas. OU's success in the Big 12 does not hurt nor the fact they put so many in the Pros. I would not go there but they have a good football program.
 
A lot of Okie's settle in Texas, and who can blame them. Their kids grow up rooting for their parents' team. Case in point is one of my law partners. He went to OU undergrad and then Texas law school, and his kids have been in Austin since birth. His teenage son is an OU fan, even though he has attended Rick Barnes' basketball camp a few times.
 
Maybe they like to play for championships. Every 4 year player for stoops has played in atleast 1 national championship and 2 or more big 12 championhsips.
Not many programs cant say that .....including texas.
I mean honestly with the way the texas progam is going right now, where would you send your son?
I think even most homer texas fan would agree stoops is hands down the best coach in our conference.....numbers dont lie .
You do realize the ONLY time texas has won a big 12 championship ....is years when stoops had his two worst teams since he has been here.

Ill put it this way look at the last 10 years, both teams where loaded, but who accomplished more.......

You dont think texas would swap the last 10 years with ou in a heartbeat???

You can rip ou all you want for losing 3 nc games.....but I would rather lose nc games then sat a home and watch my rival play for them....

Texas kids dont owe ut anything....or vice versa. texas shouldnt offer a kid just because hes from texas, or a texas grown recruit shouldnt go to texas just because its the home state school.
Both should do whats best for them, and if the last decade proves anyhting.....that would be going to ou over texas.

I can understand a youngster who is a Sooner legacy living in Texas as a Sooner fan. That's logical enough. But Texas-born players who have no legacy ties to Zero U? If they cross the Red River to go to Norman, they should be branded as traitors and permanently banned from the state. There are lots of good schools in Texas for them to chose from .

it love it how you spin macks record (since he has been at texas) only taking about his good streaks....very aggieish.

Look at his career(vs stoops) as a whole , the good the bad and the ugly......its not even close.

Stoops teasm ALWAYS improve as the season went on.
Even years texas beat ou, stoops teams kept getting better and played for the south while even losing to texas.

The big 12 south wa dominated by ou, we won it when we great teams, and we won it when we had average teams.

Looking at this year(ou having a TON of players return)I dont see that changing anytime soon.

As i said you can pick out the one good run mack has had(I never talked about the 5 ina row we beat you).......I waan talk about the body of work.....their careers since they have both taken over.....it isnt even close.
Ou had won the south 8 times in 12 tries(7 for 8 conference titles) you can put an aggie spin on it anyway you want.....but thats domination.
 
Ou just beat two top 15 teams away from home....but your right they got worse.

You wana act like ou got worse and they just won the big 12..........thanks for playing.
 
I wouldn't trade for any decade that included cheating and probation. I like my program and team to be clean.
 
you can call me a clown all you want, but winning Big 12 championships isnt easy...just ask mack brown.

Stoops does MAKE it look easy(since he does it 75% of the time) but its not.
Playing 7 bowl teams(4 on the road) is a really tough schedule.
I knew we were too young to go undefeated, but winning the Sooner Conference(we own the big 12) was still a great season.
 
There is quite a bit of poor grammar on this board, but good God this guy takes the cake. A fine representative of Oklahoma's quality of education.

i'm not sure what your not understanding but i thought sooners always wanted to talk recent history seeing as how we've kicked your asses at a ridiculous clip historically. so why start 10 years ago?
let's throw out history, like you sooners like to do, and talk recent history. we're better.
if uconn was playing sam houston st i'd pick sam houston state. being that you guys suck *** in bowl games i'm thinking this one is a toss up.

Im talking the body of work as a WHOLE stoops vs brown (since they both have been here) good teams ,bad teams, and great teams.
As i said if you wanna talk about current lets talk about right now(ou just beat texas/won the big 12) returns a TON players , and I dont see that changing next year ...do you?

Its easy to win it all with studs like colt and vince/jason, sam ,and josh......lets talk about when ou/texas didnt have the best players.
texas did NOTHING and ou won championships with a wr at qb(thompson) and a backup (hybl)
You compare stoops career vs browns and its not even close.
Its also not coincidence that the ONLY two times brown has won championships....is when stoops had his two worst teams since he has been at ou.
What stoops has done at ou compared to mack at texas(as a whole) isnt even close.
as i said, you can spin streaks, anyway you want them in your favor......but if you look at the what they have done at the respected school....you cant spin that.
Not once did i talk about the 5 game winning streak, so why would you bring up the small streak brown had??

I will say when coach boom came he changed the mindset for texas. They quit playing soft and became more mentally tuff. No way you win in 08(and maybe not even 09) if Boom didnt come to texas.
problem is you just lost the BEST part of your staff and the new cord is anything to write home about.

The orginal question is why would a texas player go to ou......after this season(ou champs and texas losing record) and going into next year(lost your best coach) you may see alot more of it.
If you were banking which prorgam would have the best run the next few years....who would you bet on?

Ou is loaded talent wise and just won a championship , texas quit this year and just lost their best /next head coach.
Just think if your son had went to texas last season as was told boom (if mack left) would be your next head coach......I guess they lied.....
Im pretty set in saying stoops will be at ou 5 years from now(has turned down every job in the country pro or college)
Mack........even if he wants to still be coaching.....may not get that choice. another year like this and he will get a greg davis one way ticket.

Why would a texas kid go to ou.....simple....they have proven they are the better program, better staff, won more championships, get more out of their players, more 1st round picks.....and they have (and will have) one of the best coaches in the country........texas cant say that.

This is the kinda stuff you have to read when you go 5-7 and lose to Aggie and Sooner in the same year. Last year these guys were hiding under rocks around here. Few Ags or Sooners dared talk smack during the title game run and our recent dominance over their program. Now a down year and here we are. And yes, it's rather sad when fans of teams with 2 losses in which they were handled are smack talking on rival boards after the regular season. Really, enjoy that monster game with UConn, I'm sure a few people will be watching...maybe they'll see UConn vs. A&M on the channel guide and confuse it for basketball. LOL We'll see you soon(er).
 
I know one thing for sure, you and the rest of the longhorns will be watching.....what else are you going to do??
And please your acting like texas watching ou win a big 12 title is a down year.
If that is true.....then texas is down almost EVERY year.

Your acting like we are the little brother program and once in a blue moon we win the title.

Truth is ou has OWNED this conference, and its even hinted that since there arent 12 teams anymore, they are gonna call it the sooner conference.

ou winning the big 12 isnt a down year for texas.......its the norm.
Only difference is this year you didnt even have a winning record.
maybe next year you can get back to going to midlevel bowl game ,while ou wins another conference title.....but seeing your talent level/losing your best coach......I wouldnt hold my breath.

you cant argue about brown vs stoops ou vs texas....its a losing battle and you know it.
just like mack brown SPIN the argument away from the real shortcomings /problems.

the numbers speak for themselves, as do the championships.
stoops has owned the big 12 since he arrived and i dont see that changing.
texas should consider themselves lucky they picked ou worst years to have their best teams....or brown may not have anychampionships.
On second hand Im glad every dog has his day, or they might have canned mack a long time ago....
