I believe Sumlin is on his way to a contract extension

Again, Tennessee has only been good when they cheat and take players of minimal character - see also The Fulmer Cup. The hillbilly version of Nebraska without the classy fans.

Classy? Most college educated people in Tennessee retain their teeth at least through age 30. Also, those hot college girls ... hardly any of 'em chew or dip.

Stumblin seems like an okay guy, but he isn't a good coach. If you can win at Mississippi, Clemson, Va.Tech, TCU, etc you can win at Tennessee. Just need the right coach.
I'm not sure you can win much at ATm unless you go "Briles Style". The school and alum are too delusional and disfunctional.

SI thinks Sumlin is someone Gator will consider

Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M: His résumé and experience is better than most of the guys on this list. He's likely to be looking for another job this winter. He's proven he can recruit very well in the SEC against anyone. He's 49–24, has never done worse than 8–5 at A&M and did lead the Aggies to their first top-five finish in over 50 years.

One of the mods on OB posted maybe a week ago about a rumor that sterlin Gilbert was headed to smu after the season. I’m guessing that might be an insurance policy if chad Morris gets the aggy gig

If you don’t count location, culture, history, conf. Championships, BCS bowls, wins, and National Championships, Aggy is the obvious better job.

The problems with ANM are very unusual. From the outside it is a big state school in B/CS. From the inside there is a lot of Baylor cult behavior that is rotten to the corps. Squeeze em, elephant walk and boot slide = just plane weird. Add to that and "aggie does not lie, cheat ,or steal" compared to reality (i.e. yes some do) and you have a couch burning on HWY 6. The entire bonfire tragedy was just unbelievable to a casual observer and an epic wrong in its aftermath

Marginalized aggy ego has turned SEC, SEC, ETC.

These people think they can CAN Stumblin and coaches will flock to the opening... the black hole that is aTm.

REALITY CHECK aggy... Who are you in the college football world!?

The br-aggies are like that guy that you work with, who after the second drink offers "I do not know why I am not in a relationship. I have so much love to give".

Uhuh. Translation: "I am the great black hole of emotional need and given the chance, I will suck the f-----g life right out of you".

Discuss.

1. They hitched their wagon to Johnny Football, and it backfired in a very short amount of time. So the only thing that they can hang their hats on now is "SEC SEC SEC" and it's reduced them to basically what has happened to Arkansas since the fall of the SWC (mediocre all around and no one takes you seriously).

2. We still take up too much real estate in their heads. Check out the threads on Texags when we're playing and compare it to the number of posts on this or other Texas fan boards. Then they try to turn it around as the Texas Longhorns evil machine that forced everyone out of the Big 12 and sweet sweet schadenfreude and how we're chicken to play them blah blah blah. This discussion prevents any meaningful change at A&M that would turn them into a national power. Teams that rise to the occasion and experience sustained success don't constantly compare themselves to programs as mediocre as ours. You have to think bigger than that. When we had our string of success under Mack, we weren't sitting around wondering how A&M was doing. And if you were doing that, you're not doing college sports right.

3. A&M is just not a premiere job. RC Slocum is arguably the top coach in modern A&M history (Dana Bible coaching them in the 1920s is irrelevant today). Slocum doesn't reek of the same aroma that comes out of guys like Saban and Meyer. He's a good old boy, and good old boy coaches aren't popping out of the woodwork to lead programs to greatness any longer. Plus, his longest period of sustained success was helped by, in the NCAA's own language: "Athletics representative paid student-athletes for work not performed; lack of institutional control." Take that **** away and they're just another middling team. You know, like they are now.

Yeah, I have to say that A&M has definitely plummeted below the low performance bar I had set for them. I thought Auburn might be a loss, but man.... embarrassed twice in a row at home including a loss to MSU.

Texas A&M preparing to pursue Jimbo Fisher

The Aggies are already planning to fire Kevin Sumlin at the end of the season and are reportedly targeting Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher to replace him, according to USA Today's Dan Wolken.

Texas A&M is expected to inquire about the interest level of Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher once its separation from current coach Kevin Sumlin is official at the end of the season, according to two people familiar with the situation.

Fisher has spurned interest from LSU each of the last two seasons but has a good relationship with Texas A&M athletics director Scott Woodward, who held the position at LSU when Fisher was an assistant there. The Aggies have also expressed interest in making a run after Chip Kelly.

Fisher is 81–23 in eight seasons in Tallahassee, winning at least 10 games in six of those eight seasons.

Fisher going to Brazos County bringing Kevin Steele with him. Recruiting nightmare. Not since Ron Meyer or Barry, et al have we seen that scope of cheating coming to Texas.

Who was he supposed to beat this year that they didn't? Aggies just aren't any different no matter where they go and who their coach is.
