Hut's

Huts has the best onion rings anywhere. They are big and thick with pieces of cracked black pepper right in the batter. The milkshakes are also darn good.Unfortunately, to me, the burgers don't quite compare to the rings and shakes.------------------

Are they still 2 for 1 (on Wednesdays)?

FYI - for a time, GM Steakhouse was about the best I have ever had. But they are gone.

<P>

isn't casino el camino the scary place? i went there one night because a friend said it was his favorite bar and everone was wearing black, with black makeup and black nail polish and they all had piercings and tattoo (alright not really different for austin).

Donuts. Is there anything they can't do?

I've never been able to figure out why people say that Huts has great burgers. They seemed pretty unremarkable to me the three or four times I've eaten them. I'm not saying they were bad, just that they were noting to brag about. The onion rings were good though. For those who swear by them, what makes them stand out in your opinion?

The burgers at Hut's are WAAAAAAAAAAY overrated.

For the best burger in town, beyond a shadow of a doubt, unquestionably...go to Mike's Pub on 7th and Congress. Unbelievable.

Hut's has good burgers because of the Wed 2-for-1 special. That and the variety. I love Hut's but I wouldn't say they're the best. Damn good though.

Casino has a great burger and a wacked out environment. I don't know what those guys are doing back in the kitchen but they put together a badass, fatass burger. Especially great after a long hot day of Pecan Street Festival and then go inside to cool off. Sit down with a cold brew, big burger, and watch the slasher flicks playing on TV.

West 6th street next to Shoal Creek. Two doors up and to the left of 6th nad West Ave. heading towards Lamar.

Their burgers are only good because they put lots of different things on them. Variety is their only asset. JC's in Plano has much tastier burger, and in Austin, I prefer: Burger Tex, Posse, Crown, and Whataburger...in that order.

The CFS at Huts is as tough as shoe leather.

Waterloo Brewing Company's Congress Avenue burger w/ cheese was pretty damn good. I like Huts burgers allright, but their milkshakes were the best.

Huts are amazing burgers and yeah, they still have the 2 for 1 on Wednesday (except you have to wait about 30 minutes since it is so packed)

Hut's is great. Great atomosphere, great fries, great burger selection. It's not the best burger you'll ever have, but everyone who lives in Austin should check this place out.

Ate there today. The onion rings phuckin' RULE! But I don't think their burgers are any better than Sonic or Whataburger, if even that good! Haven't tried their sandwiches or plate specials.

And question: does that other G/M Steakhouse serve burgers like that one on the drag used to? Man, I miss those!!!

If you're evern in the DFW midcities area, go to the Coppell Deli in downtown Coppell. FANTASTIC greasy burgers, and if you're really up to it, get the Nate Newton ... One patty, cheese, chicken breast, ham, turkey, bacon, all the fixins on Texas Toast .... wow!

Hut's burgers are decent but not worth the hype. The place would be a lot better if their waitstaff wasn't completely incompetent.

Hut's burgers are overrated. Nothing to write home about. I prefer a OT Special at Dirty's. But a great burger can be had at Morris Williams Golf Course, or they used to be.
