Huge series with the Angels

Cruz and Murphy providing the punch. Holland back to his previous standards. Go Rangers!

(P.S: Went to Sox game last night. What a freaking downer.)

H69 - baseball gawds are rewarding you tonight after that terrible R's loss Thurs. night. David GS Murphy and Cruz were strokin' it tonight and Holland was outstanding.

It sure is. Doesn't give me any warm fuzzies about the bullpen, but it's an important "W". Now, let's get another one out of CJ.

Thank you Woo-Woo! I needed consoling after sitting thru a gol-dern Rangers shut out in 100+ heat. I can take giving up some runs tonight after going up 10 or 11.

Now, CJ gets shelled. Rangers are still up by 2, but I get the feeling that this team is in deep doo-doo the way the pitchers are starting to get hammered.

And now a bunch of changes for the rotation in terms of days off, etc for the remainder of the season. Harrison will skip start on Tuesday and Feldman will start instead. And Wilson be the only starter pitching every 5 days. Hope it works.

Man, the starting pitching has really gone into the crapper. Top of the 3rd and the Angels have scored in every inning and lead 4-1. The Angels lineup has been weak all year, but the Rangers are making them look like the Murderer's Row.

The offense is gonna have to come around to bail Colby "Meat" Lewis out tonight.

^It is likely to go down to the wire. And it's essential that the Rangers maintain and build on the lead, since they close out the regular season with three in Anaheim. It should help a bunch to get Beltre back in the lineup - and a short rehab for Nelly Cruz.

Huge win last night against Weaver. 3 game lead but only twoi in the win column. If Rangers can basically play 500 ball hereon out and go 14-13 over last 27 it forces the Angels to go 18-11 as they have the two extra games.

If you compare schedules, 18-11 is easily achievable for them. They have 7 games against the Mariners in the next 10. Our next 10 games consist of the Rays and Red Sox. This is a very tough stretch and we are simply not getting good starting pitching. I am concerned.

Unlike the Angles with Santana and Weaver, the Rangers pitching is at the point where no one can be counted on. This is not the preferred position. At this point it doesn't matter why as there isn't enough time to correct.

The Angles can sleepwalk to 18-11. Stating the obvious, if the Rangers do not have at least a 4 game lead heading into Anaheim for the last 3 games, everything could spiral down very quickly if the Angles win the first game of that series.

The larger concern is how do they prevent this from happening again in 2012 when C.J. will not be in the mix? Good pitching does not want to pitch in Arlington so the young guys will have to step-up. In other words, the same position the Rangers find themselves every year. Good pitching will defeat outstanding hitting enough times to lose the pennant.

Angels lose last night in Seattle so Rangers lead is now 3.5. Magic number is 25 to win 24 to force playoff.

Not really sure why we are rolling eyes because the Angels can in fact sleepwalk to that record. Seattle is awful. We caught a break with the Mariners stealing one. Great job tonight by Scooter and the pen. Scooter could be huge for us down the stretch if he regains '09 form.

Lots of Seattle, lots of Oakland, and series with Baltimore and Minny wedged in between. And an average Toronto squad as well. Hell their only difficult tests are 6 games at home versus us and the Yanks. They can fart their way to AL West champs.

Rex, the Angels are a very pedestrian 21-22 against the AL West. The Rangers in contrast are 28-14. I dont think you can assume the Angels will cakewalk in those games, they certainly havent thus far.

In fact but for the interleague games where the Angels played 8 games over .500 while the Rangers were exactly .500 this race would be over. (Ironic considering it was the Rangers interleague record last year that was difference).

The Rangers certainly have a tough schedule for next couple of weeks and the last thing anyone wants is to see a lead of 3 or less games going into that final series in Anaheim. That said going 17-10 over their last 27 would be a stretch for the Angels and that means the Rangers just need to play .500 ball in their last 26.

The Angels finish the season with 11 games versus 3 of the 4 worst teams in the AL. When you include Oakland and Toronto, it's 18 games versus 5 of the 6 worst teams. The only bad team they're not playing is KC. They have 6 games versus us and NYY at home. That is an extremely easy road.

The 21-22 record against the AL West is a positive sign, but we are in there a lot.
