I was watching snippets from HRC's speech in San Antonio last night where she continues to tout her nationwide healthcare plan and it dawned on me that I had heard this before. When Bill was running for president in '92, wasn't this her only platform? I distinctly remember hearing that this would be her cause, much like Nancy Reagan's 'Just Say No' campaign.
My question is, should she really get another shot at pushing a plan that she could not get approved for 8 years? Is it likely that this will remain her focus once she is elected? After all, she had virtually no other cause for her husbands 8 years in office and she is likely to be distracted by running the armed forces and other national issues that she did not have to worry about during his terms. I know that most of the promises that are made during the campaign will likely not materialize, but this one just seems much more hollow to me than most others.
