Howard Schnellenberger calls out Texas

Graveyard whistling by a formerly relevant coach of a never relevant program, hoped to inspire his players, but more likely, puting them at great risk. Have another, Howard, and call us when anyone other than owls and such give a **** about your blathering. Someone clean him up a little and call a cab. This on top of all the idiots sucking off tech is making me soooooo ready for this season to start.

I know that Mack won't say a word in reply, but I very much hope that the scoreboard needs double precision floating point math to describe the beating by halftime.

So he said Texas isn't tough, it's nothing that we haven't heard before. Like others said he is not completely inaccurate, but that was not a good comment to make.

All you can do is prove him wrong, we should thank him for firing up our team for the first game even more.

Dear Howard,

The University of Texas Longhorns are a worthy target of an opposing coach's smack talk.

Sincerely,

Mark Mangino

whatever. I like the attitude. I'd take Mack 100 times out of 100 over schnellenberger and his team will get killed but I like the attitude.

And he's right about us being soft. I recall only twice that we've played tough post VY - ou in 2006 and asu in the holiday bowl. Since Vince, way more times than not we've played soft. I'm all for the Holiday bowl attitude continuing, but last two years' history hasn't shown it.

Message boards are full of fans saying that Texas is soft. This Texas team knew this and had a bunch to prove this season, and that was probably a huge motivator.

To me, I almost want to buy this guy a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. These comments will help the entire season, not just our first game vs. FAU.

Goes without saying that was some pretty classless smack talk. Personally, I'm glad that he let it fly. Gives our boys someting to look forward to. No sense coming out and complacent like we did against Ark St.

BTW - his comment are pretty much directed at our offense. That's even better. I have no doubt that the defense will bring the wood. But, it gives the offense some extra incentive to pound them as well.

soft teams don't win on the road as well as this team has under Mack.

soft teams aren't able to come from behind like this team has under Mack.

Passive would be the best word not soft. Too often we don't match the intensity of the other team to start with and thus are forced to play catchup. If this team has been guilty of anything the past couple of years its been coming out flat.

What a stupid thing to say. He may be half right, but saying that sort of thing in front of a reporter is just about the dumbest thing he could possibly do.

Sergio is literally going to rip someone's face off.

What does he have to lose?? His teams three touchdown underdogs... They lose the game oh well no one predicted them to win.. BUT win the game and my gosh the mans a genius!!!!!

Which is more humorous?

Our coaches comments...or the fact that some think you need bulletin board material?

Come on. Is this stuff really shocking? You ever hear some of the things Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, or Steve Spurrier say?

Hopefully we give you a good game on the 30th. Good luck.

Every little bit helps when you're playing a "never been" program like Florida Atlantic with a "has been" coach like Schnellenberger.

If you have some links to Saban, Meyer, or even Spurrier calling the other team ******* before the game, that should make for some fun reading.

Good for Schnellenberger. I like someone who speaks his mind without regard for consequences. The "Texas is soft" thing seems to be pretty common thinking (from Green Bay to Little Rock).

BTW, when someone posted the all time Texas-OU records, wasn't he 1-0 against us? And doesn't he have as many MNCs as Mack Brown?

Some people are ready to get bent out of shape at the drop of a hat.
