How the West was lost?

Grienke to the Angels.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are rolling out nachos in a pink plastic helmet.

Yep, that one doesnt sit well with me.

If Grienke was a warrior in the mold of Schilling or even Colby Lewis that had the right attitude to want the ball to start Game 7 of the World Series, he might have been worth a top prospect and two medium prospect for rental. I dont' think he is. The Rangers window isn't closing unless they close it on themselves with stupid trades. If this is going to be the Angels year --and it might be -- then it will be but an interlude in the Rangers half-decade.

If the Rangers lose the West, I'm betting it will be more because of anemic hitting than a lack of pitching (though the injuries to the starting pitching over the last month or so is making the mountain much more difficult to climb). Tonight, Rangers bats are struggling (again) against a pitcher with a losing record and an ERA over 6.00 while the most consistent starter (Harrison) has already given up 5 runs. Ridiculous. I think this team is in trouble.

I cant shake the feeling that with all the injuries, the offense losing power and just general bad play and coaching decisions that the Rangers have begun what looks like a long slow painful fade.

IMHO there's a long way to go. And we're 3.5 ahead. There's plenty of time to turn it around. Agree there's lots to be done, but I trust this management team to get them to the Finish Line.

Hook'em!!!

The players, with a few noted exceptions, just seem to be going through the motions right now. I know they're tired, but they're far from the "best team in baseball" moniker that the were given in May. Right now, over the past 1 1/2 months, I'd say they were one of the poorer-performing teams in baseball. The cushion they built in April and May will last only so long, and then we'll see the Angels and As pass us by.

These players better get it in gear and start caring. Right now, it appears they don't.

TA hit it on the head. These guys are just going thru the motions. Other than Elvis I don't see much enjoyment by the players & the crowd seems to have gotten he same memo unfortunately

Good thing we have Wash as Mgr...if anyone CAN get these guys out of the dog days attitude, it's him

^^^. Yep on the going through the motions part. And, so far tonight, the Rangers have 8 LOB through 3 innings and managed to get only one run across (and that run was courtesy of an error). The futility continues.

This 4 game series with LAA will be a huge turning point for the Rangers IMO... they either turn it up a notch and go the right direction or take steps backward toward a slow loss of the lead in the West.... The Angles are hungry, more hungry I fear, than the Rangers are right now.

^^^. I agree. The turning point series is not pointing the Rangers in the right direction. Oswalt gets shelled and so does Holland as his penchant to give up the long ball continues. These teams seem to be teams headed in opposite directions right now and the good guys aren't the ones headed the right way.

Gonna have to win the next two and earn a split or this thing could go south real quick. The Rangers shaky pitching staff and its anemic offense do not instill any confidence that they'll get it done. The addition of Dempster helps, but a lot of over things have to turn around to get the car off the shoulder before it goes into the ditch.

Honey, the Rangers shrunk the lead in the West to 3 games....

The Rangers desperately need Yu to pitch well tonight and get the "W" to stop this skid and get some positive MOJO going again. Bats need to give Yu more than 2-3 runs against this team.

The tailspin continues. Thanks to 6 walks and a Kinsler error, Darvish and the Rangers dig themselves into 7-1 hole. Pathetic start to a critical game.

Gonna take a big rally to salvage this series.

Well, what do you know? The Rangers stage a terrific comeback and tie it in the bottom of the 9th on a Kinsler solo HR with one out. Andrus follows with a double. Hamilton then pops out on the 2nd pitch he sees and Beltre pops out on the very next pitch. Nice clutch hitting guys.

On to the 10th. Rangers need to pull this one out. Otherwise, it's a punch to the gut that this team can ill-afford to take. I'm guessing we see Nathan--have I mentioned lately how much I hate bringing in the closer in tie games? Hope this doesn't come back to bite 'em in the butt.

Good Lord. Nathan gives up a lead-off HR to a guy hitting .197. Prove me wrong guys, but that's gonna be church I'm afraid.

Nathan hits Hunter and Pujols takes him deep for a 2-run HR. Rangers are on the verge of having their lead reduced to 2 games.

Okay. Gotta another rally working after Cruz leads off the bottom of the 10th with a HR and Young reaches on an error. C'mon Murph, let's keep it going.

Yes. Murph works a walk. 2 on, no outs for Napoli. Sure would be nice for Nap to go deep here, but any type of hit will do.

Single by Napoli! Bases juiced for Moreland who hits the first pitch he sees for a single. 10-9 Angels. C'mon Kins, you have to do better than that--first pitch pop up. 1 out, bases still loaded.

Let's end this thing Elvis. Base hit will do it.

^^^ Don't know if it is arm trouble or just fatigue. Yu is not used to pitching as much as he has to here, so I hope it is the latter. Might very well be that he is having trouble adjusting to the league and the grind of a 162 game schedule. Hopefully, he'll regain his control soon.
