How much longer to find dirt on Santorum?

Kid has been THE conservative contender for more than 24 hours. Why isn't he gettting the Cain, Gingrich treatment yet? Is Santorum that clean? The only guy to attack him so far is Rick Perry, and Perry basically counsels against any "Washington insider" -- a Perry codeword for someone who sounds smarter than him talking about national issues.

He's a racist don't ya know.

Well- I'm not the press, but I googled "santorum" and oh boy did something messy sure come up! I urge everyone here to take 10 seconds to do the same thing

Sorry guys. I stood up after making my original post, walked into the living room and caught Rachel Madow, not someone I usually watch asking if Santorum would be vetted, then bringing on a Washington Post columnist to get it started.

I'll admit I knew less about Santorum than I should have. He's very articulate. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but he can expound intelligently on complex issues.

It's just the way things are. Cain didn't start having woman trouble until he reached a certain amount of support. Newt's warts had faded, until he reached a certain amount of support. Same with RS. That yahoo article could have been written months ago, but it wouldn't have been as effective.

As far as I'm concerned he's a one trick pony(social issues), who is providing a buffer for Mitt against Paul. He's also campaigned with McCain and Romney, but you'll never hear that from him.

I think it's kinda weird that he brought home his dead, premature fetus home to show his kids. And this is coming from one of those 'if its not hurting someone else and its in your own home- go for it' perspectives.

I can take the Romney story about tying his dog to the roof of his car and driving. The dead fetus story is a little creepy. It's kind of like the NRA members who feel the need to own 200 guns just to prove they have the right to do so. We get it, you're pro-life. But, you also scarred your kids for life now Rick.

He has made it pretty clear that he is on his knees for Israel. He goes out of his way to state that he serves Israel.

That said, other than being a huge war hawk, he is ignorant as hell, or just a plain liar who wont acknowledge any short comings in US foreign policy. Not at all.

Of course, the fact that he is anti-abortion and his wife basically had an abortion in order to save her life makes him look like a complete flip-flopper.

And again, I am not an anti-Semite, Roger. Judaism and undying loyalty to the political state of Israel are not attached at the hip.....

As if his moral standing, or lack thereof, is going to be the reason Santorum won't win it all.

Santorum close to winning Iowa, the three evangelical stooges brainstorming for an anybody-but-Romney candidate. Y'all might as well ink Obama in for a second term right now.

If the economy doesn't show significant signs of improvement over the next few months, Santorum or Romney can beat Obama.

Oh, I don't thnk so. Nor do I think many others would agree with that prediction.

Mich, I agree, with some clarification.

Romney has a chance if there isn't significant improvement. I doubt he would win, but he has a chance, I think.

But given the wording that 1) absent a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the economy, then 2)EITHER Santorum or Romeny has a chance... no way. Obama would still beat Santorum lacking any economic improvement (above and beyond the improvement we're seeing now), and I think Obama would defeat Romney if we have moderate economic growth.

And I gave a serious answer.

I distinguished between no economic growth, moderate economic growth, and significant economic growth; and between Santorum and Romney.

You cast way too wide a net in your statement for anybody to seriously agree with it, imo.

Mich, that is a pretty awful picture. I'll give you that. The chili bowl hairdo and glasses are pretty bad.

Compare his experience with Obama's and its not even close. No one has ever been elected POTUS with less merit than Obama.

That being said, Mitt will throw money at the problem next week, and Santorum goes away.

When was the last time a president was reelected with unemployment what it is today?

While the unemployment rate is a variable that affects elections, it appears that you are saying it is the only variable, or is the one single variable that will carry the day for Romney.

I'm surprised that you are giving Santorum this degree of political credibility.

I'm still at a loss as to your Santorum support. He was a nothing until Iowa, and Iowa is a blip, imo, and he'll get killed in NH, imo, and I doubt Santorum has much support among hispanics or blacks, or even the normal segment of the GOP.

Iowans who supported Santorum are not among the normal segment of the GOP.

LMAO at libby proclaiming the race over because of GOP closet skeletons.

Obama has so much dirt that a closet won't hold it. He needs a Raiders Of The Lost Ark warehouse, maybe two.

including ethics questions that dogged him about a preferred mortgage he received from a bank run by campaign donors, and federal funds that went to a real estate developer who backed his charity.
