I haven't read the entire thread, but from what I have read there is no mention of special education. Many private schools don't take kids with IEPs. Also, charters often don't appeal to parents of SE kids for a variety of reasons. This makes it even harder to compare public, charter, and private schools. It also makes private and charter schools look cheaper than they really are.
We need to alter the "no child left behind" mentality, which seeks to put every child on the same bus and drive them all to the same destination. A better approach would be "all children pushed in the appropriate direction."
