How did Mr. Miagi get his cash?

Seriously, Mr. Miagi was a maintenance man at a piece of **** apartment complex in California. Let’s take a quick look at his assets and see how much sense this makes:

-asian style home that looked to be about 2,000 square feet total. I don’t know about any of you California real estate types but that kind of house in a town close to the coast goes for a couple of million especially when you consider it is sitting on about 1+ acres of land that house his…
-collection of classic cars. Uh, I understand he drove that piece of **** clunker that the drunk white dudes were leaning on while making racist comments but not many maintenance men have 8+ classic cars just ******* sitting there on his property.

In addition, he also has the cash to go buy all the materials to build a huge deck, a fence and a Japanese style garden that alone would kick most ninjas ***. Not to mention all the paint for the house.

We also saw his old man’s house in Okinowa and it sucked **** so it’s not like there was some huge inheritance coming to him since Sato owned the whole island.

Where did this dudes income come from? It’s not like he was playing the yen vs the dollar in the 80s because he’s a maintenance man and most of those types aren’t spending their free time trading forex. The margin on the bonsai tree business must really kick *** and he must have a super portfolio manager running his **** since all he does in his spare time is try to catch flies with chopsticks.

Dude. He was a WWII vet. He bought that house on the GI bill in 1946 for $10,000. He bought the cars used over the years and fixed them up. He built all that **** over a 40 year period before Danielsan ever showed up.

For all we know he might have owned the apartment complex too.

You also may have noticed that the house was next to some kind of oil field/industrial area and railroad tracks. Not exactly a prime location.

i absolutely love the interwebs because it provides a forum for these types of debates.

i'd never thought about how Miagi accumulated his assets.

I believe he was under cover for the Yakuza but wanted to go legit so he was in hiding as a maintenance man.

He's obviously living there for free. All he had to do was threaten the owner with his crane kick. Then the owner gave him saki as a monthly payment to keep him from going on a killing spree.

ancient okinawa proverb say, "he that hordeth many thing over long period haveth multitude of thing by dawn, including older model classic trucks"

I guess my explanation is the more likely answer then. Well except maybe the sweet asian heroin or being a pron star.

Yeah, that's true about the apartment complex. I'm sure he just did that to pass the time. If he owned that place it wouldn't be a big piece of ****.

At least the great Admiral from Stockdale was decent enough to do some research instead of grasping at straws like the rest of you clowns. However, all I gather from wikipedia is they are asking the same question I am.

he may have been something of an entrenpeneur, and may have benefited from his karate legacy...

It's so obvious. Miagi was starting a porn video company with venture capital. He writes an excellent business plan.

The house, decking and cars were all going to be locations/props for his videos (to be sold direct to the public via the internet).

Rico, Mr. Myagi was humble so being a maintenance man was not "beneath" him in any way.
Where his outside income we don't know, but this could have been a cover or just something to pass the time.
His house was in order and he got Daniel-San to keep it up so what else did he have to do?
