How about some flips to us?

With contact being made with many athletes several years before they finish high school through summer camps and high school visits, a long relationship exists with many of today's recruits. It would be hard for an outsider to come in and woo some stud into signing with a new staff especially if they are committed elsewhere.

Take Alaka for example. even though he was a Texas commit, he had developed a relationship with Sumlin that was much longer than Strong could possibly match. So he opted for familiarity instead of sticking it out with a new staff at Texas.

I will be satisfied if Strong can keep the remaining elites (Heard, Roberson, WR Foreman, Catalon, Freeman, Joe and TE Whiteley) and the up and comers along with adding a new face or two especially in the DT, OL and DB positions.

2015 will tell the tale of whether Strong can sway some of the state's top players back into the Horns fold.

Also, don't forget Strong's comment regarding rating stars at his initial presser. In essence, he indicated he is not guided by the star ratings but rather looks for a player that can grow and help the team. He doesn't rely on other people's ratings.

I was hoping the mystery recruit was WR Emanuel Porter who had switched from Texas to TCU a couple weeks back. He had been a TCU commit before switching to UT ilast summer. Austin Statesman said he is expected to be in Austin this weekend for a visit.

Arrion Springs will unofficially visit this weekend, per 247.

I don't think UT has a chance for him. He's was very stoked about Oregon from early on and probably attended the Alamo Bowl. But, it can't hurt. Good luck coaching staff.

Arrion's mom wants him to stay nearby, I am sure. I mean, oregon is a long way away from San Antonio. Charlie went down and met him this Tuesday, which resulted in this visit. He had hardly given a chance to the earlier coaches, as his Univs were all OOS. Couldn't have blamed him, as nobody in Texas was playing good defense. But Nick Aliotti retired and Oregon has a new defensive coordinator (promoted from their own staff but an old-timer). So who knows, may be Arrion is beginning to get some cold feet?

May be he figured out that Charlie is quite salty in defense and has put together an ultra-salty defensive staff too. When he is coming at his own expense, it can't be totally meaningless...

But still a real long shot. Would be super terrific if we can pull off that flip, from a national top-100 player.

jayakris, very good insight. You seem to follow recruiting very closely. Hopefully, we can start making a bigger impact with the 2015 class, because it seems like we are losing more and more ground to aTm these last 2 years.

The good news today is that the guys who were supposed to visit us, like Arrion Spring and Rodriguez did come in. Also joining were Heard, Lorenzo, Foreman twins, and John Bonney. All were at the big basketball game, it appears, and Charlie Strong was introduced at half-time (and he spoke a few words too).

The bad news today is that the Teuhema brothers (3-star 2014 DE commit Sione and 5-star 2015 commit Maea) are on a visit to LSU today, and they had told nobody about it. That doesn't look good. Maea will be a big loss for us if they flip now. Terrible news actually. But then they had visited somewhere else a couple of weeks ago without telling anybody too... So, may be they just wanted to just enjoy Baton Rouge's southern hospitality!

I suspect the Teuhema brothers want to be a package deal so we need to lock in Sione followed by Maea.

No way Strong enforces Mack's no visit rule after committing. That would be nuts for a new HC trying to retain commits.

Hoping Heard rallies the troops and helps convince Joe, Foremans and Bonney to stay Strong (

) as well as swing Springs and Rodriguez to the good guys.

THEN pick up a DT.

That would be an outstanding outcome for the weekend.

Sione Teuhema was all over the field at the US Army game in San Antonio last month. I believe that he is underrated as a three star. We really cannot afford to lose those brothers, and I hope that we don't.

I am hoping he doesn't give little brother a scholly just cause we want big brother. That works out OK if you are the Shipleys. Not so much if you are the McCoys or Vacarro's.

The book is still open on Kevin Vaccaro. Played in 12 games on special teams as a freshman. Hurt for most of 2013 and did not play at all. He had quite a few honors as a high school player at Brownwood. Let's wait and see how his career turns out before making any final judgements.

Burnt Orange Weekend summary: BON

Essentially same as others reported.
WR Joe and S Bonney still strong commits.
OL Rodriguez got offer and will probably decide Monday night.
DB Arrion Springs likely to stay with Oregon.

Teuhema Brothers (2014 and 2015 recruits) situation regarding flip to LSU is uncertain at this point.
