I'll be shooting for a PR of in the 3:50 range (age 42), which I know is rather pedestrian compared to some of the gazelles we have around here.

Who else is running this Sunday?

i would kill for a PR of 3:50.

I continue to hover at the 4:15 mark (age 40)

Good luck and don't start out to fast.

I should clarify that 3:50 will only be possible for me if the conditions are perfect, and my right IT-band, which has been silent for 10 months, doesn't decide to go haywire!

Good luck,

I am scheduled to do the Austin Marathon (plantar fascia issues makes it a 50/50 prop). Good luck.

Good luck guys!

I hope the conditions are better than for the Dallas WR last month. It was very warm and the 2nd half of the race was into about 25 mph wind; it was brutal. I won't even say how far off my time goal I was.

26.2 Pit Crew here.

My wife is running. This will be her 18th marathon. She will be running the Austin 1/2 and Boston in April. I am so proud of her.

Good luck and have fun to all who are participating this Sunday. Hopefully the rain will stay away.

For me, i would much rather run a marathon in 25 degree weather than 70 degree weather.

Running in hot weather is the worst. I have a hard time training for Fall marathons in Texas.

The training weather was exceptional this year in Texas, from September through just before Christmas.....then it got hot and humid.

I agree with your assessment 100%. Looks like start time temp will be in the mid 40's Sunday. A little worried about wind and drizzle!

2025 version...

My daughter is running the Half Marathon today so we’re heading downtown in about an hour to find parking, etc. Good luck to all running today.

I did the full marathon in 2002. I always told people it was my second marathon: the first and the last. No mas!

Have a good time Dion. Wayyyy back, maybe 12-14 years ago two of my daughters came to town and did the 1/2 while I did the 5k. Was a huge thrill for me when they came back to join me in my finish. A prized memoriy that thankfully someone saved for me in a photo.

Good luck to your daughter Dion
Just entering is winning.
The self discipline it takes is amazing.
I thought about doing a marathon for several years but never did. 10ks were long enough for me.
Never regretted not doing one

But still admire your daughter for what she is doing.
How are the temps?

There's a half marathon in Austin today too. I know about this every year, but also forget every year. With the traffic at all times in Austin, the gridlock the detours cause in neighborhoods is ridiculous. Maybe they should move the marathons 20 miles out of town.

How are the temps?
It was low-mid 30s which you can layer up for, but the wind was biting pretty hard too so it felt really cold. I had forgotten how big the crowds were at this thing. Proud of my girl for sticking it out and finishing.

That’s a nice memory. The energy at these runs is infectious. Lining up for the start with a few thousand fellow runners is pretty cool. Everyone is pumped and ready to run.
