House GOP walks out

"but your inclusion of it by no means proves the absence of illegal programs that have yet be illuminated. I hope that becomjes clear to you."

The point of the paragraph I posted was to show this was NOT something exclusive to a Bush admin a month into their admin
In fact the relationship between Quest and NSA goes back several years . years during which Bush was not even a candidate
The point of posting the paragraph is to show that Gov't has done and will do things on the edge of illegality before Bush and will after.
People let their hatred of Bush overwhelm facts and common sense.
If it is JUST the issue of gov't doing things it shouldn't posters should speak out against that rather than blame everything thing on one man.
They should read all the facts including the history which goes back to at least 1997.

6721 - Nothing you have said stacks up. Yes, obviously, the telcos have enjoyed a relationship with the federal government and previous Admins' various programs and initiatives have come and gone over the years. But these are private companies. It is not the right of the government to access and and monitor private infomation of the telco's clients, American citizens, outside of the limits of established law.

The fact that these particular programs in question sprouted up less than two months after Bush/Cheney took office tells me that they were ready to hit the road running. If you hadn't noticed, the PNAC and its players also had all kinds of ideas worked out before Bush took office and were only waiting for the opportunity to get the nod of approval.

.

Through no fault of their own, Congress won't get anything done on this issue.

Bush will pardon the telcoms at the slightest crack in the door.
