Hotels in Omaha?

Be very nice to someone who already has a room.
Seriously though there will be a lot of cancellations this week. Check all the hotel discount sites regularly. A reasonable rate might pop up. Airfare same thing.
Council bluffs is across the river from Omaha. Book there if you can find something. Lincoln is an hour away if all else fails.

My wife works with the hospitality industry and is very in tune with where to and not to stay based on pest/bed bug control and other cleanliness. These companies have very strict corporate standards that all of their hotels must maintain. Here's her preferred list which include a range of very affordable to more expensive, but no matter where you stay you will be clean and free of bugs.

Marriott owned property (courtyard, Fairfield inn, etc)
Hilton owned property (Hampton, Homewood suites, etc)
Holiday Inn owned property

Avoid these unless you know its ok. There can be good ones, but you're playing the lottery if you are going in blind.

Any hotel with a number in it's name
Any hotel with day or night in its name
Some Best Westerns

I bucked the trend just this past weekend and booked a night at a best western plus and my wife inspected the room. It looked clean to me, but let's just say we won't be staying at best western any more. The first place to look is to pull back the top mattress about a foot and look by the headboard. There can be some gross stuff there and is an indication of how they maintain the property.
