Horns vs. KU Game Thread

It has been a long time since I was this depressed after a victory. The depressing part being that we don't seem to be getting better, nor does there seem to be a path to getting better.
Maybe the “D” had their off night and got it behind them. I think that you will see them back to a successful attacking defense the next two weeks. They need to get a win over Tech to be bowl eligible (W VA will be a stretch).

Look at the entire year vs last year and you should feel good. The defense is light years ahead of last year, although the offensive line has been downgraded due to depth and injuries. Having said that, some really good running backs have emerged (the move of Warren is a good decision) and there is a boatload of talent at receiver. If Texas can get some help before year end from the injured “O” line group, I expect to see slightly more production immediately. And with Sam back, Heard can go back to the wildcat. With a little blocking, there are a lot of weapons for lighting up the scoreboard.

Texas fans have high expectations, and rightly so.
But this was not going to be a banner year at Texas. I would not want to be answering to fans at Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, Okie State and many more dissapointments in college football this year. Fan egos are imploding all over the country.

Tom needs to fill a couple of holes and crawl into the offense and things will get better. If he does that and still cannot score, well, I like my Crow fried in bacon grease and cornmeal.

Please no more wildcat, unless the guy taking the snap actually hands off or passes every now and then.
Yep. Have to fake the run and pass every now and then. Heard can do that. Ordinarily I do not like non-traditional schemes but this is a year for any and all options.

Having said that, if I knew the solution to this year’s offensive woes, I would be at a practice somewhere right now.

It ain't rocket science, and you don't have to be a member of Mensa:

1) Teach QBs to recognize and read defenses

2) Teach WRs & RBs to recognize and read defenses

3) Recognize and exploit mismatches - 6'6" is taller than 5'10"; we are the only team not to go directly after OUs midget freshman CB.

4) Teach RBs to pickup

5) Teach WRs to find the open spot and to come back to QB

If they aren't smart enough to learn these things, they ain't gonna make their grades. Mike Leach taught a lot more to a lot dumber in Lubbock.
