Horns v uconn

UConn up 19-9 early. UConn’s bigs are having their way. Horns have a tall hill to climb tonight

After trailing by as many as 14 in the first half, we’ve cut it to 6. 56-50 with 14:32 left in game.

Team is playing their a$$es off after going down big early and Max Abmas can’t hit the broad side of a barn but keeps shooting anyway. Mitchell having a career game.

64-54 with 10:59 to go.

UConn has made at least a half dozen throw it up toward the basket and pray shots. So frustrating.

Abmas is 4/13 and Mitchell is 8/10. Can we please get Mitchell and others to shoot?

Game would be within 3-5 points easily if not for some bad plays on offense.

Looks like we're going to lose this but considering the injuries and the BS shots at the buzzer I'm happy considering the circumstances.

Horns lose 81-71. I’ve got no problem with the effort from our team tonight. Hunter and Mitchell played great.

We can’t wait on Abmas to shoot through slumps every game.

No Shedrick and No Disu tonight. This team is going to be just fine.

Horns fought hard but UConn’s size advantage was too much. Mitchell played great and he makes other worldly plays look effortless. Abmas is going through an adjustment period of the night in night out size and athleticism he is now facing. Texas had a several possessions of the wtf variety when they got it down to six and could have gotten down to four. Uconn hit a number of shots at the shot clock buzzer but they are a really good team in all phases. This was an entertaining game but the espn announcers east coast bias was unbearable. Hurly whines about every call even when he is getting the benefit of most of them. Very coach k ish. UConn at the phog will be a good game.

This^^^ Yes, with Disu and Shedrick at full speed we play Uconn to the buzzer with a good chance to win.

RT is the real deal. he's put the pieces together for a run in March. If players get healthy and stay healthy, I can see another Elite 8.

Uconn is a final four team. They are loaded. Our guys, even shorthanded, played them very tough, getting to within 4 with about 4minutes to go.

We’ll have our backcourt in place next year. This year we just need everyone healthy and see what kind of conference and tournament run we can make.

Tonight was a measuring stick game and for now without the big men Texas is not an elite team. However, Texas has the tools to become elite and showed tonight that it is more than more than capable of getting to the tournament and capable of being at least a second weekend team in the tournament.

If it was a measuring stick game, I think the Horns measured up pretty well. Texas is a completely revamped team with a lot of new faces playing in their fifth game together with only their third best big available. UConn is the defending champs with a lot of returning players who have played together for a while and one transfer sniper who works in the mix. Had a chance to get within 4 with about three minutes left. 10 pt short handed loss to the number five team in what was basically a home game for them this early in the season is not a bad loss. It looked like it was going to get away from them early and be a route like Duke did to one of Barnes teams in msg but that battled back stayed within striking distance until right at the end. Shedrick probably would have played if it was a tourney game, but need him for the whole season and if his shoulder was such that it could have been seriously aggravated in a physical game like this one best to hold him out. Conference games are more important.

Talk about a reload.

UConn isn't blinking. They're ready to defend their championship. But, we were without two big talented big men, so we chalk this up as reminding the team about high level intensity and the desire to dominate. UConn has that. No moral victory or anything like that.

We move on, get our guys healthy and slowly build back to what we were.

It was basically a home game for UCONN and a shorthanded Texas more than held their own with a #5 defending national champion in only the 5th game of the season. Very encouraging for the battles to come in the Big 12 and beyond

UConn fan here. I was very impressed how your team responded last night shorthanded. Once you get Disu and Shedrick back, i expect you guys to compete for the Big XII title. We were shorthanded as well, missing our stud freshman point guard and our big guy Clingan was hobbled with a chest cold. Things are looking up for both teams. Good luck on the rest of the season.

So how did you find Hornfans? I feel like we are a niche group of old *** dinosaurs. :smile1:
