So is it just me or are others surprised not to see the Ivy League schools - Duke, Stanford on the list? I thought people selected these schools for the great education opportunity. If so then shouldn't they graduate?

Hopefully, I'm missing something. Maybe they were not included in the observation.

I've seen other articles about graduation rates that indicated that some of the Ivy League schools (ie. actually in the Ivy League) did not track rates for release.

That being said, I am sure that every school has someone that comes in from time to time and leaves the institution for whatever reason. Let's face it, Kalee Carey will probably be a black mark whenever that entry class gets tracked- offhand, I cannot think of any others that left the program and have not completed studies either here or elsewhere.

I am the parent of a young woman who graduated (in four years) from her college of choice in June and I have been interested to track the progress of her cohort group. Many hit snags along the way. While none that I've tracked were on athletic scholarships, many were on onther types of scholarships. It 's a tough transition for any 17-18 year old to move across the country, make new friends, live with (usually) a stranger as a dorm roommate, and adapt to the rigors of a university education. It's amazing to get a 100% graduation rate, even with the academic support these atheletes get. Just thinking of the impact missing work to follow the team would have on my ability to do my job boggles my mind, so how these kids keep up with their school work while playing Div. I ball is amazing!!! Congratulations, Longhorns. Keep up the good work!

Transfers still count against a school. Duke had LaNedra Brown, Lello Gebisa, Rometra Craig, and Crystal White transfer, all of whom were entering freshmen during the time period that the statistics measured.
