Like many of you, I happen to rely on family and friends in times of crisis. That said, my father had a sudden heart attack on Saturday morning outside of my parents' home. His heart has been repaired and is beating strong. But we are still waiting for him to wake up and he has shown very little cognitive response so far. There is no telling how long his brain went without oxygen and this will ultimately decide his outcome. There is no rule of thumb in this type of scenario so we are basically in a holding pattern. The next 24 hours will be critical to his success.
I only write this because I believe in the power of prayer, positive thinking, or whatever other belief leads us to thinking that this world is made up of good and kind things. So whatever your beliefs, please take a minute and think of my father and my family as we suffer through a hard time.
My dad is about as big a UT fan as they come. UT sports are intricately woven in the fabric of our relationship. Good or bad outcome, I'll never view a game the same way again.
