USAA will also write for former dependents as well; my Brother is on USAA, however I've got nothing but complaints from my Dad for not jumping in (the wife is the holdback in our case).

He's a retired Air Force officer, however from what I recall they opened it up to all ranks about 10 years ago.

Any suggestion on which company has the best service. i.e, how fast they respond when a claim is made and how fair the payout is?
