Homemade Tamales

An old buddy of mine brought some up from Brownsville tonight. I just polished off a dozen...Muy sabrosos!

Well, the tamalada for 2008 is going to have to wait until January. My son's football team is going into round 5 of the 5A Division I playoffs this Saturday. I had hoped to post step by step photos, but those will have to wait! Good luck to everyone that is doing the tamale making thing this year, and Feliz Navidad!!!!!

I would kill for a good tamale. Anyone know of any places in NYC that have quality tamales? I haven't found any as of yet.

I used to get them at a baker in El Paso-- Red inside and pork-- spicy and great

I also tried the cinammon and raisan ones--nice

OK, just found out my wife's mother and two sisters are coming over Christmas eve to make tamales, both red pork and green chicken. Ya'll suck.

Probably too late to order for Christmas, but here it is anyway:

Del Rio Tortilla Factory
1402 Gillette Blvd.
San Antonio 78224

(south side of town on the way to Poteet)

We usually order about 30 dozen frozen ahead of time for our family & my brother's and pick them up after the Alamo Bowl.

These are the best I've ever had in 60+ years of tamale eatin'.....and that includes homemade ones made by real Mexican abuelitas in a small town near Monterrey.

Just received 4 doz homemade pork tamales from the neighbor of a co-worker. Still hot! $8 bucks per. I hope a few last 'til Christmas.
