Hiring Sherman

No doubt that a&m doesn't have the talent that Texas or OU have, but at least based on recruiting ratings (not the most reliable, but overall, pretty telling) they are still well ahead of the Tech's and Kansas's of the conference. The difference is, those schools have a system or have a coach that know how to use the kids they get.

Over the last several years, the aggies haven't had either. And that isn't to say Sherman can't get there. But things obviously haven't started well. And so far the recruiting results haven't suggested he is going to get there fast. But only time will tell. Enjoy the ride.
 
All the talk of a bad hire will go away after this week when Aggy beats New Mexico. I predict the score to will be 7-3. No, A&M defense is not that good but neither is New Mexico's offense. This game should be a barn burner.

To me this a such a dumb hire. You get a retread coach for a stuck program. Stupid! If the Aggies really want to get going in the right direction they should have hired a younger coach like Peterson from Boise who will have the energy and drive to build that program into something. It is going to take years and constant hard recruiting to get the Aggies up to the UT/OU level on a consistent basis. I don't think Sherman has the time or drive to do that. But that is just this Longhorn's opinion.
