Herman Staying - What Are Next Year's Results?

Nope the floor is 11-1 with the 1 is ou. Anything else is not acceptable for a 5th year HC.
Players quitting or not panning out are all on the coaching staff after year 4.
this ^^^ was essentially my stance in August. One loss this season was the floor. With the talent we had, and Sam (best QB in the B12) no reason, other than poor coaching, that Horns lose 3 of 9 games.
TH is a failed UT coach, imo.
I don't think the tiger can change his stripes just because he gets another year. Next year, ou, tcu and isu will be better, plus their QB's will be back and better.

If Purdy is coming back that will be a loss.

I can see a long stretch of losses to OU in the coming seasons. Their recruiting is much better than ours and is approaching the level of Alabama, Clemson, and tosu.

You do realize that if Herman kicks the field goal, or doesn't try a fake punt, we beat ISU? Correct. ISU is extremely over-rated. I know they appear to have a "hex" on UT, but UT should never assume a loss to ISU. Never.

I believe OU will beat ISU by 21+ points in the B12 Championship Game.

And this is exactly why everyone assumes a L to ISU. Herman always seems to make the wrong decision when it matters. He's like Tin Cup, he just always wants to go for it to show how big his balls are but instead he usually gets kicked in the nuts once they are exposed.

Exactly- Arkie is a W

Not so fast my friend.

I suspect arky will be inspired, rise up and play their best game of the season. Horns will not take them real serious due to Hawgs struggles in the SEC.

I anticipate a close game and with all the early departures of experienced players and youth of new starters, the Horns will be fortunate to get the W.

Check the binder for hog to play a former long time rival that has fallen on hard times....

I agree with your assessment of Herman. Every game hangs in the balance with Mensa Coach. I'm simply pointing out that ISU should not be viewed as a real threat. The only game that Texas "SHOULD" have a 50/50 chance to lose is the OU game each year. All other games should be wins.

Looking like Jackson is hitting the transfer portal.
If JQ Jackson transfers, I think that changes our prospects going forward significantly.

If this comes to pass, then Casey, Hudson, and that kid with the hot mom had better get ready real fast.

Or Sam could stay around and be the one man gang for another year.

As I see it, the question for next year is really: "Can Yurcich pull something out of his hat?" And he might (or he might not...).

Love Sam. However, it is time to start over with a new QB. We need a new identity, a new scheme. Anything to produce a spark. I feel like I've been watching the same game on a loop for 4 straight years. It's time to mix it up.

I totally understand your point, but under Herman every team is a threat.

Well, if JQ Jackson is in the portal, we can't count on having our young superstar QB. We do have Casey, Hudson, and some walk-ons to work with. We sure could use a JC or grad transfer QB to come in. Brewer?

His games with a seasoned quarterback were usually in doubt even if they ended up as wins. How does anyone think this joker will win more 5-6 games next year starting over?
Reason #1 Bijan Robinson and reason #2 Whittington stays healthy. Kids of this talent level do not come around often. I think you will be doing yourself a disservice not to watch them play. It might be hard, but try to ignore Herman.

I personally think Card will be our next great QB.
Probably why JQJ would enter portal if he is.

Whoa, whoa, whoa - wait a minute! Another thread about another disappointing season next year then I find out we have a kid with a hot mom. Just who is this kid and who is the hot mom? Pictures?

The Magic 8 ball spread sheet has been fired up, smoke coming out of the 486 chip'ed computer (but with the math co-processor to speed things up), and it's produced this forecast for the season:

Opponent 2017 2018 B12 2019 2020 Percentage Adjusted %
UL LA LA Mar - L Mar - L LA Tech - W 100% 1
Ark SJS - W Tul - W LSU - L 20% 0.2
Rice USC - L USC - W Rice - W 100% 1
Kansas State W W W W 100% 1
Oklahoma L W L L L 20% 0.2
West Virginia W L W W 75% 0.75
Texas Tech L W W W 75% 0.75
Baylor W W L W 75% 0.75
Kansas W W W 100% 1
TCU L W L L 25% 0.25
Iowa State W W L L 50% 0.5
Oklahoma State L L W W 50% 0.5

Sum 7.9

Takeaway here is the predicted 8-4 season, based on Herman's win percentages the past four years. This risked win percentage method predicted 3 losses this season, so it's as good as Herman is predictable, which is pretty high.

Low win percentages to Arkansas, based on Herman's sad 1-4 win percentage to real conference OOC teams (losses to Maryland twice, USC, and LSU, lone win of USC).

OU - only 1-4 against them so 20% risked win, and 25% chance of a TCU win, based on 1-3. OSU and ISU are 50%, as Herman's 2-2 against them.

3 losses in conference, so another failed season would be on the cards.

Main question would be, as apparently this is the goal of the Texas Football Program - will the team be in the conversation about the B12 game in December?

Main challenge will be a new QB most likely - hard to see Ellinger staying for another year though possible. In which case, Herman has to bring in a QB with limited playing time so far. When he started at Texas he had the luxury of Shane being good at that position, then eased him out and Sam in.

But next year he's starting cold - I haven't noticed but has any backup QB gotten more than 2-4 snaps in during the year? Maybe at the end of the KSU game? But none when it counted so little real game day pressure.

Hard to see more than 8-4, and far more likely to be 6-6 than 10-2.

Wow, we have to play ULaLa to start the season? Levi Lewis announced he's returning for 2021 and as of now so Coach Napier is too. Assuming that doesn't change, I think we lose that game. (Recall they beat ISU this year.) Other losses will be OU, ISU, and one or two of TCU, OSU, or KSU. Wins are Arky, Rice, BU, WVU, TTU, KU, and one or two of TCU, OSU, or KSU.
Final record is 8-4 or 7-5.

Well, at least we're sure to win the coaching battle if Napier is sticking at ULa.

Texas has never lost less than 3 games in the regular season under Herman.

6 first year, then 3 (plus B12 loss), then 5 (!), then 3.

With the departure of the best players on both sides of the ball, no reason to think he breaks out of that mold.

The danger in talking about either the school song or his insults to the fans in the off season is that it will be used by the media as a reason for this poor season, so it's really the fans fault.

Based on his past results, this season's 3 losses is exactly in line with what you would expect from Herman, so song / fan insulting comments did nothing to move the win needle either way.

Gotta go out and find a winter jacket or coat. The only ones I have are Dallas Cowboys ( I stopped wearing those when the NFL allowed kneeling ) and Texas Longhorns ( stopped wearing UT gear when they started their ******** and Herman threw fans under the bus ). LOL
