Herman Cain: God Told me To Run

Can I use that excuse at work everytime I say something that 90% of people don't buy?

Oh don't worry boss- my dumb comment was just me speaking metaphorically.

I had these conversations with God in terms of, ‘Lord, I’ve done a lot of things but are you sure? But you shouldn’t question God. You should just make sure that’s the message.

Cain didn't say he got a response back, he said he got a message. Where is he quoting God? He is speaking to a religious publication, he is doing what all poiticians do, playing to his audience. good grief.

He says he feels like Moses hearing God "talk" and resisting. This quote certainly suggests he feels that he is hearing directly from God.

I don't like the sound of this. I'm fine with praying for the best to happen et cetera, but this kind of stuff worries me. If someone really thinks God is talking to them, they might do or justify anything. It's what worries me about fundamentalists of any religion who think they are acting under direct orders from The Almighty.

mcbrett, you should appreciate guys like Cain, when his company serves hot pizza and some idiot takes a big bite before testing to see how hot it is and burns his/her mouth, or is someone slips on a pizza box some idiot left out his front door, you get to sue and profit off it.

I would love to say that you guys know better, but sometimes I do wonder if you even have a concept of what "prayer" is. Is it really so scandalous and outrageous that a Christian would see God's providence in circumstances that led him to this point, that he would feel that this was God answering his prayers for guidance?

It's funny how things have turned in just 20 years. All of a sudden people are popping out of the woodworks to tell us how weird Christians are and how out of the mainstream their beliefs are. I'm fairly sure the vast majority of this country is still Christian - even if many of them are ashamed to let anyone see it in their lives or Heaven forbid actually talk about their faith.

no, they have no understanding of this and are offended by the very concept.

They love to persecute christians. for some reason, they defend islam. "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"

I don't care who told him to run, as long as whoever is chosen for the GOP will get the disaster of a leader "The Annointed One" out of office.

Barrack Hussien Obama...... YOU'RE FIRED!

Cain's praying and conversations with God sound perfectly fine to me. You either believe in God or you don't. If you don't you should try to understand and tolerate how a believer could pray to and converse with God. If you can't you are a dense phobic narrow minded bigot.

I never told him to run for anything; I did tell him to charge a little more for his pizzas and use better ingredients; that advice he did not follow.

God

Whenever somebody tells me that he talks to God and that God is telling him to do something specific, I worry.

Throughout history, way too many people have used conversations with God as justifications to inflict misery on others.

I'm religious, but acknowledge that God may not exist. If he does NOT exist, who is Cain talking to, and who is he hearing respond?

FIrst of all "anointed" is spelled with one "n", not two.

Second, what do you expect from a guy who ran "Godfather's"?

Third, I doubt that Cain believes much of that crap that he spews, which makes him a normal politician in these times. He says that stuff because it appeals to the fringes who play an overly important role in the primary process. The disproportionate status of the evangelical crowd pretty much forces this.

If you're a believer, like most in this country are, you probably believe God (Allah, Yahweh, or whoever) has a role in almost every aspect of our World and of our lives. You probably feel you have a personal relationship with your God. Doesn't President Obama supposedly have a personal relationship with God? I go to the same Catholic church that Vice-President Biden goes to. I'm assuming everyone else sitting in the pews with us has a personal relationship with God. They're knelling and praying and communicating...they wouldn't do that if they don't think there's something there. People ask their god for direction all the time, and many feel they're led down a direction, sometimes one they wouldn't otherwise choose, because of God.

I don't know a lot about Herman Cain or his faith other than that he is a good man, but his statement makes complete sense to a lot of people in this country. I bet you Colt McCoy can empathize.

Strange it was ok for Obama, the Messiah, to call for a church to help him become an ' instrument of God" and to create a kingdom here on earth
but Herman Cain calling on his faith gets ridiculed.

Hmmm Obama is only half black. could it be racism from the white posters against a purely black man who is also really dark? does his really black skin frighten some of you?

per
You posted, " Blacks themselves discriminate against darker-skinned blacks. "

And that makes it ok for you and othre whiteys to discriminate against daker skinned blacks?

Bi
You felt this was important enough to post. Are you going to honestly say you didn't see it as a negative?

RV RV,
so this worries you? What about the Messiah, Obama who thinks he can create a kingdom here on earth?
does that concern you at all?
I have never read any post of yours that suggests the messiah thinking he is an instrument of God concerns you

does this quote of yours >"It's what worries me about fundamentalists of any religion who think they are acting under direct orders from The Almighty. "
apply to Obama as well?
