Haysus says we are looking at Karam

The kid was a back-up at TT. If we are going to take a QB other than the 2011 recruits, take one that at least started somewhere(JUCO!!!!!!!!!).

I watched Friendswood play Lake Travis at Kyle Field in a very windy game... and Ruffin McNeal was there. Maybe Applewhite was there too.

Gilbert was, at that point, much bigger, stronger and the better QB. No question... But, no idea what Karam has been up to since then or what he could do on the field now.

Linus Baer and Warren McVea graduated HS in the same year and played against each other in the Texas High School All Star game which took place at Amon Carter Stadium at TCU in Fort Worth.

I attended that game. Linus Baer took a pitch out and was racing to the edge for a sweep. He tried to make a quick stop and cut back. His knee folded, and he went down and did not get up. The crowd, the largest in HS all star game history because of the Baer/McVea hype, went stone quiet. There were 35,000 people in the stands. He was carried off the field on a stretcher.

They did not have arthroscopic surgery back then. He was never the same and did not distinguish himself at Texas. Seeing that happen was sickening. It still gives me a sick feeling today writing about it.

Linus was big, fast and would have had an outstanding career if he could have stayed healthy. I hope he graduated and did well.

I believe Mack came out and said we were not going to take him. I don't have a link but I think I read that from his last press conference a week or so ago.

Do you have a link for this? I just read the entire thread on recruiting over at recruitocosm and all I saw was him saying we were NOT looking at Karam.

Sounds like he would be a good get and better than anything we have right this second.

Having Karam, or Wallace, or any of the others being mentioned, will - or would - actually cost a scholly at least for the year (Karam) or three (Wallace) they have left to play.

Howsomever... Karam looks to be from a family that is reasonably well off, and could theoretically be invited as a walkon so that we could indeed put him through spring practices and see what he's got. If he makes it, give him a one-year scholly and let him pretend to - you know what I mean - be majoring in something Tech doesn't offer (condition for grad school immediate play) for Spring and Fall 2012. He says (I think I read somewhere) he wants to go to Law School, so he could move there after finishing Fall 2012.
