Boy, this is the best news I have heard all day, or a long time for that matter.

In all honesty I expected your next update to be very dismal. I am glad I was wrong.

May Hannah have many, many more good days and may you and your family continue to show the amazing strength and resolve that have gotten you through this tremendous ordeal.

HD - I haven't posted before but I've been following your story. Truly amazing. Hannah is in my thoughts often, and I pray that she continues to pull through like the champ she is. God Bless.

Since I don't believe in any particular diety, I've been praying to every god I can think of for Hannah. I'll keep doing it. Very happy to hear she's doing better.

Craig, if you're still checking (and even if you're not), we're all still praying.

And I still expect to see y'all at a game one of these days!

May God stay by your side on this journey.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give you an update on Hannah's condition. She's doing MUCH better! We went ahead with the tracheostamy and the G-tube (to feed her directly in her stomach) and she came through both surgeries with flying colors. She's been showing more movement with her head and mouth, even yawning at times and making a few facial expressions. Still seeing periodic movement in her hands and every now and then she'll give us a full body stretch.

They've started to take her off the ventilator for short "sprints" of breathing on her own and she is handling that very well. They are thinking she will probably be completely off the vent in the next week or so.

They've given us a target date of March 29 to transport her to Our Children's House in Dallas. This is a rehab facility run through Baylor Medical Center and we've heard wonderful things about it. We're so anxious to take that next step. We've heard that sometimes just the change of environment can be very instrumental in recovery.

Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers. We've come such a long way already and we know it is because of the encouragement and support we've received every step of the way from people like you guys. I'm looking forward to sharing more good news with you in the future.

God Bless,

Craig Howell

I just wanted y'all to know that we're still thinking of you. Life, and its trials and tribulations, is a marathon, not a sprint.

May God be with you and Hannah at every mile marker.
