DAY 12
Hannah went into surgery yesterday morning to undergo a renal artery bypass. Her blood pressure was still rising in spite of FOUR anti-hypertensive medications that she was on, so the decision was made to do the bypass surgery then even though her neurological condition made any type of operation very risky.
I'm happy to report that Hannah went through the operation with flying colors. Her blood pressure is back down to where it should be and they only have her on one mild anti-hypertensive medication as a precautionary measure. The operation entailed the removal of one of her kidneys which had been severely damaged as the result of an occluded artery. Early lab tests report that her remaining kidney is responding just fine.
The doctors will continue to monitor her condition in that regard, but we are now focusing more on her neurological condition. It will continue to be a waiting game for us all to see what amount of recovery she will have, if any, over the next several weeks from the hemmorage in her brain stem. We're still getting a few eye movements and her head will turn slightly from side to side every now and then. Hopefully these signs are just the beginning.
Thank you for your continued prayers and may God bless you all for the overwhelming support that she and her family continue to receive daily.
