Hank Williams calls Obama 'Hitler'

Im openly defending Hank here. His quote has been grossly taken out of context simply because he uttered Adolf Hitlers name. Thats it. And that is pathetic.

Hitler and Netanyahu playing golf together is as polar opposite as you can get. That is Hanks point. Boehner and Obama are on opposite sides of the aisle, fighting for opposite views on how this government is run, and Hank doesnt think its right for them to be chumming it up. I agree. I see no problem with his statement at all.

He coulda picked Stalin and Jesus, and I guarantee you this wouldnt have made nearly the news it did. Its because he said..... wait for it..... HITLER. Oh the horror. How dare he!

So just to be clear, we're all on board that comparing a political figure as "hitler" is a BAD thing? Because many of you seemed to be OK with it a while back.
 
I'm with 2003grad. I'll openly defend him. He was merely using an analogy to demonstrate how extremely polar opposite these two people were. But, just the mention of the word "hitler" sent the hypersensitive folks into a full-fledged meltdown. ESPN should be ashamed of themselves for failing to recognize the context in which his remarks were made. It's really sad that we've sunk so low.
 
Getting back to the Hank vs. Chicks comparison, I don't have a problem with ESPN slapping Jr with a consequence for his actions. I like the song and will miss him but I can't stand when entertainers feel it necessary to voice their political opinions.

So to be fair to all entertainers, shut the F*$# up and just dance for the crowd monkeys. Yes I mean Hank, yes I mean D Chicks as well as countless others like Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin and the other open mouth empty head *** clowns.
 
I've always winced at the Hitler analogies to US politicians in either direction; feels like it gets used way too often for shock affect and to me it it cheapens the suffering of the those who really lived in that time and place.

Boehner & Obama may be on different sides of the aisle, but they are atleast willing to have a dialogue and try to come to terms on issues that they both can live with.

Can't really see Hitler and Nethanyahu doing this; do people really want our representatives with different stances,/ideas/opinions not to even speak to each other? Don't see how that could be very productive in the long run.
 
It would not be productive and HWJr was an idiot for making the analogy.

The fact remains though that the title of this thread is simply not true.
 
ESPN has a right to choose whatever song they want. Freedom of speech is there, but Hank isnt entitled to have his song played on MNF.

That said, the reasoning for his "firing" is stupid. Once again the word Hitler cannot be uttered without the one saying it being raked over the coals.

Its baffling. Im impressed that the ADL hasnt made a statement yet.

because it was a reference to hitler and obama. eventhough the reference was not a direct comparison of obama, the fact that it is out there is bad enough and that person must be destroyed. it is the same reason why nobody in entertainment, even if conservative, would ever speak negatively of any democrat. you see the opposite all the time and nobody cares. roseanne bar or whoopi says republicans are evil and should die, they get new shows, its a double standard taken to the extreme.
