Hank Williams calls Obama 'Hitler'

Now I'm sure all of you who villified the Dixie Chicks will be doing the same with Hank Williams Jr., calling radio stations and demanding he be thrown off the air, boycotting his music and concert, and booing should his name be mentioned at DKR.
Oh, this is different? How so?

1) He's in the USA making the comments.
2) The people that buy his music might be more inclined to agree with him.

Nothing incredibly wrong with Natalie's comments except for the two points above. She was out of the country and she bit the hand that was feeding her.

That and the country as a whole was pretty sensitive at the time, dealing with 9/11, etc.

Not a brilliant career move for either of them it seems.

Stupid thing to say and MNF was right to take him off. he is a nothing anyway. Who listens to him?
That was almost as stupid as Move On running that ad showing Bush as Hitler or calling bush Hitler on daily kos or that wisc U proff likening bush to Hitler orCongressman Ellison comparing Bush to Hitler.

Should we add the ReaganHitler comparisons?

hank was stupid and got what he deserved.

It was more about the contrast in the analogy than Obama being called a "Hitler". Hank's just not that smart. He could have used Ahmadinejad v. Netanyahu or Tom and Jerry or the Road Runner and Coyote, but whatever.

Is this where I get to ask you about your Faux Outrage?

I hate when people use the Hitler comparison.

Just like the Dixie Chicks, he will suffer. But it was time for a new song anyway.

Would this be a story if he had compared Obama to Joseph Stalin?

Honest question. For the record Stalin killed more of his people than Hitler.

I don't really see that he said Obama is "like" Hitler. Seems to me he was just attempting to come up with an unlikely dinner date for comparison.

As for the comparison, Hitler accomplished a lot more than Obama has. Even if you find a lot of it to be negative, he was getting stuff done and bringing about change not just promising it. So yep, no comparison there.

Thats it Cana. Youre fired from your job for giving Hitler any credit for anything. For that matter, just saying Hitlers name makes you an anti-Semite.

And yes, Hank was illustrating the lunacy of the pairing of Obama and Boehner and picked completely polar opposites.

Society and the media have jumped the shark concerning "Hitler." Jesus.

The only pass we can give to Stalin was that he helped us defeat Hitler. If the soviets hadn't ripped the guts out of the Germann Army it would have been damned hard to win WWII when we won it. Neither he nor Mao seem to be looked on with much favor in the media or the educational establishment. I guess the main difference was the we were in a hot war with Hitler while Mao and Stalin were opponents in a cold war without horrific daily casualty counts and victims whose story we could photograph.

If they pulled Hank Williams Jr. Music off the radio, how long before somebody notices? Except for the MNF, I can't remember the last time I heard a Jr. song.

1. The Hitler reference seems to be, as already stated, just a metaphor of extreme contrast between committed enemies, not saying, "Barack Obama is like Adolph Hitler."

2. The harsh part of what he said is that leaders of the political parties should view each other as such enemies that they should not even meet, talk or play golf together. That is the opinion up for criticism, I think.

3. I guess I think of Hank as a cussing, drinking entertainer type, so hearing some "shock-jock" type statements isn't that surpising--although, again, this was pretty benign. This exact kind of exaggerated metaphor is on every morning on local talk shows--no, not just political ones--for attempted humor.

4. At the least, Hank was going public with his dislike of the president, and did so with strong emotion. If Hank's employers, fans, or sponsors don't like anything about him--including that--they have every right to spend their money somewhere else. In that way, it is similar to the Dixie Chicks.

This is just stupid.

He never even come close to saying Barrack Hussien Obama is Hitler. Matter of fact, it was an anology and if the right was as stupid as the left, they could ask if Hank was talking about Obama and Boehner as being Hitler? The left is so desperate it's pathetic.

CW redneck Nascar-lovin' creationists will lap this stuff up.

You don't understand? That's ok, brother, plenty of them do.

Hank the 3d is likewise an idiot.

Why did everyone offended by this immediately think BO was the Hitler reference? Maybe BO was Netanyahu and Boehner was Hitler? Maybe Boehner should be pissed off? Maybe Netanyahu should be pissed because BO's fans think it is an insult to be compared to him.

You are not really attempting to defend, excuse and reverse the statement are you? Or blame the media? I know that is your fallback defense, it is always the media's fault.
Plenty of people are offended, and that's why his song won't be used on Monday Night Football.

Obama is no Hitler. Thats ridiculous. Hitler never spent 4 trillion dollars that he didn't have in 3 years.
