Hamilton

He needs something - bases loaded, one out , full count (with no balls thrown in the strike zone), and hits into a DP. This is getting to be a bad habit. At some point Wash is going to have to sit him for an extended time.

Too bad Henry Dorfman passed away.....That would have been the perfect remedy.

Of course Hamilton would have to be receptive....

He picked a BAD time to quit "the chew.".

.395 in April to .344 in May to .223 in June to .178 in July.

He's killing his chances for that multi-year deal.

Every baseball player who hits for power goes through hot and cold spells. The guys who never seemed to slump -- Rod Carew,Tony Gwynn and Ichiro Suzuki-- never had terrific numbers of home runs. But if Hamilton of old doesn't resurface soon, his value will be a little diminished. Trumbo, Trout, Heyward, Kemp and Harper have comaprable and maybe even superior physical skills, As the sixth best best outfielder in baseball, Hamilton may get weaker contract offers than as a concensus MVP. He's still an awesome player who will get an awesome contract. Those other guys won't be up for bid anytime soon.

The Rangers should have put him on the trading block earlier this season. Someone will still throw a bigger guarantee his way than is warranted and the Rangers get nothing for him.

Don't they get a first round pick if Hamilton departs, not to mention some cash for other players? I realize a baseball first round pick is not like a football first round pick, where you can't miss getting a quality starter. But the Rangers with growing attendance, TV revenues and ownership not indebted to the hilt now can spend like all but the Yanks, Red Sox and Angels to keep Hamilton or pick and choose among the best free agents. The Angels seem to like signing Rangers center fielders and have shed Bobby Abreu's contract and will be free of the mammouth Tori Hunter contract after this year. They might be a threat since Hamilton would add some potency to their already potent lineups. I wonder who Jon Daniels thinks will be the best free-agent outfielder not named Hamilton for 2013?

Did the Rangers just all at once decide to abandon plate discipline?Earlier this years they were working pitchers deep in the count every time. Now Hamilton often strikes out without ever requiring the pitcher to actually throw something in the strike zone. Outside Napoli no Ranger hitter saw more than one pitch in the 9th. Was there a change in philosophy or did everybody just get lazy all at once?

After the torrid start, the dude is hitting .190 since June 1st. All hitters go through slumps, but II cannot recall Hamilton ever going through such a prolonged drought. There's got to be something going on with him.

Hard to disagree PFD. It's just that everytime I diss on Kinsler he starts ripping the ball. Okay....let's move Gentry to leadoff.
(Maybe both Gentry and Murphy need to be in lineup...not sure how.)

This is probably old news for most on this board, but I wanted to post the link anyway: Link. If Josh's slump is really due to a "beat up" body (and here it is only the first of August), that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

This guy is such a drama queen. Nobody gives a **** if you have a drink at a bar in Arlington or dip. I wish he'd just shut up, and though he has great talent, it's drug-abused-hadn't-taken-care-of-my-body talent and he's now in his 30s. So, I hope the Rangers don't offer him a dime. And I suspect they won't even be close to the high bidder, when they can afford it.
