DLP still has a couple of years left worth of innovation until they go bye-bye. For the past few years, DLP offered a solution to those who wanted a large (and good-looking) screen for the least amount of money. Initially, picture quality comparisons weren't even close (w/ DLP on top), but they're going to have a tough time competing when FP tech like Pioneer's 9th and 10th generation Kuro's start coming down in price (not to mention the oddly popular LCD technology).

Personally, if OLED meets expectations, I don't see how any current technology will be able to compete...

And what is wrong with that, seeing that both are considered the best in their catagory. The day of rear projection is slowly coming to an end. This time next year you may only see units that are very large in size 65-73" rear pros. Toshiba, Sony and Phillips have already shut down their production of rear projection sets.
Why try and slam me saying that is what I will always recommend, if someone is going to ask me what I feel the best set on the market is, that is what I am going to tell them. If you wish to disagree with me that is fine, but that also will show your lack of knowledge of this industry.
If you know me and how I do business, I don't own the store I work in. I offer help to others on the board and get them the best deal I am allowed by my owners to give them which is not far over my cost. So before you go on and try and slam me for how I do business you should ask me first or others that I have delt with from this board.

Actually I agree with DieUCLA on this one. You are saying that by disagreeing with you people will show their lack of knowledge on this industry? That's a pretty arrogant statement if you ask me.

I am not saying that as a fact by my word I am saying that is a fact by reviews of others in the industry as well as mine. The Link
Here is just one from both users and others in the industry.
Call me what you want, once again if you wish to criticise me that is fine, I have been here to help many people that have come into our store and many that live outside of Austin for advice on their TV purchase. I see these TVs on an everyday basis and talk to the reps of many of these companies on a weekly basis. Do I consider myself an expert no, do I feel like I know what I am talking about yes.

Dude, I'm still not sure why you think you are the resident expert on this stuff. Yes, I agree that you have a good bit of knowledge, but you also seem very biased on some subjects. I'm not gonna disagree with you on the Kuro, I like them too, great TVs. However, it's ridiculous to think this is the best TV for everybody. I'm surprised that you can recommend 2 TVs via a message board without even asking people specifics about their situation. Even the guys at Best Buy will at least give you the courtesy of trying to figure out your budget, your viewing habits, your size preference, etc.

I'm not on anyone's side but I would just like to say it's not a big deal to recommend tv's without asking any questions. I sell Tv's as well and have my own that I like and recommend to people even if I don't sell them in the store. Also, I think CNet is alright I guess but if you're using them as a reference as to what TV's you think are best then something is wrong. Why not use only your eyes and ears and come up with opinions without using a website that has advertisements for the top tv's they have listed.

You guys both have opinions and they are all good. End of thread...lol

hlaustin was a great help to me when I was shopping for plasma/LCD TVs last year.

He gave me great advice and didn't profit one dime from it.

I, for one, appreciate your input, hl.

(And yes, I did buy a Pioneer plasma...it is AWESOME)

Wait a sec here, I never said I was an expert, better go back and re-read my post. I never recommended a TV to anybody on this post at all. Any time somebody has asked me a question about TVs, I have asked them to either email me or send me a pm so we could discuss what works out best for them. So for ucla and turkey get over it. Turkey you even agree with me on the Pioneer units.

My Sony LCD kicks major ***...thanks to HL. I was headed in the wrong direction for what I was going to ask of my TV and HL simply listened and provided sound feedback. I did my own research following and ended up with a tremendous LCD that I could not be more proud of.
