No more sanctions for the Pats?

Good job with implementing graduated punishments for your players, but then letting your coaches slide. This is the equivalent to saying: "Well, we already punished you for your 1st failed drug test, no need to punish you again for this 2nd offense"

What a jackhole!

Am I the only person that just doesn't care at all about this? Apparently, people do, because it keeps getting lots of news coverage, but it just doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Guess I'm in the minority.

There is speculation that there was thought the Pat's did more than just the instances covered in the initial investigation. Some feel that Belichek admitted to it. That was why his monetary penalty was so high for a "first" offense and why they lost a first round pick in addition.

Now, they may not have thought the Pat's did it all along. But the penalty may still be deemed enough.

I think Goodell has been great in handling all these situations, from Vick, PacMan, the Pats etc. He spent 3 hrs with this guy and found nothing new. What was he supposed to do?

His biggest mistake was destroying the tapes initially. Now there is no way to determine what they initially knew. It doesn't matter how many people come out - he can always just say there isn't any new information on top of what they already had. To me this really looks like a fox guarding the hen house. He has no incentive to look into this much further because he doesn't want to admit that there was significant cheating going on (either by the Pats or other teams).

The NFL wanted this to be a nonissue. The punished them once, the added info backs up what they already said. They have been sweeping this under the carpet for a while.

i wanna know why the hell senators are getting in on these matters.

mitchell, the dude with this crap...

are ******* government and economy is ******** right now. they need to focus on helping America and not about some stupid game that i love a lot.

in response to:
"He spent 3 hrs with this guy and found nothing new. What was he supposed to do? "

That's just it....back when the fine & lost draft pick were announced, he stated that this was for the infractions/tapes from 2006 & 2007. There was NO mention at that time, that the Pats were doing this all the way back to at least 2000. None.

Now that Goodell has ben forced to publicly admit that the cheating was done over a significantly longer timeframe, his lack of additional punishment is hypocritical.

And for those of you who choose to believe that these tapes didn't provide Belichek's team with a competitive advantage....why did he go through these efforts and risks for at least 8 seasons? Belichek is a coaching genius right?
