Goode company BBQ in Houston any good?

Blackened fish is a signature CAJUN dish. Then you add a signature Mexican food dish to it??? I'm as coon-*** as they come.

If I wanted some good Mexican seafood I'll go to Los Cucos. If I'm getting something blackened, then keep it Cajun, please!!!

That'd be like having refried beans as a side dish w/boiled crawfish.

If you want everything to have a mexican slant to it... go to good co. seafood. If you like your seafood to taste traditional... don't go!!

Always liked the original BBQ place, but haven't been in a few years. Good spot to stop on the way to a Rice baseball game.

I have been eating at all three Goode Co restaurants since the '80s.

I haven't been to the taqueria in a long time, but I have noticed serious slippage in recent years at both the BBQ and seafood places. Someone told me that Jim Goode has been turning over more and more of the daily management to his son, who decided in 2003 or thereabouts to fire a bunch of the seasoned kitchen staff.
Supposedly, they were making too much money.

I don't know if that is true or not about the turnover in staff at the BBQ or Seafood. I do know at the Taqueria there are two guys (one white one hispanic) that have both been there forever that run the place.

I personally don't think any of the locations have had slippage. BBQ wise they are the most consistent in town with edible food (Pappa's is not edible). Is it the best no, it is good and consistent and the sides are excellent. Do not try and compare with any place in Central Texas as it doesn't compare. It is what it is and if you don't like don't eat it.

Also I just add this little nugget, I went to Pizzatola's the other day and it was alright. The ribs are the only thing that make it worth going back as they were above average for non-central texas BBQ.

I agree, i do love their ribs.

I really like the BBQ, but I usually only order a sandwich. I like most of their sandwiches with the jalapeño bread, though I am not a big fan of the brisket. Love the pecan pie.
