Reveille VII, the mascot of Texas A&M and highest-ranking member of the Corps of Cadets since 2001, is retiring.
The Corps plans to announce the retirement of the mascot at a news conference at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Corps Center.
They should go back to a mutt, like the original Reveille. Nothing against collies, but they should consider returning to their original tradition. And yes, I'm being serious.
The first one was hit with a car by students on the way back from Navasota. Thankfully, they don't ritualistically maim each new dog just to hold form.
One was dog-napped, not allegedly dognapped. Don't know which one.
This one got into trouble for biting a couple of people though. That is most likely the reason for the retirement. Or it could be the damaging reveilleizations brought to light in Reveille's Insider Newsletter.
We need to lighten up on the dog! Even the dog doesn't deserve to be stuck in aggyville. It has no choice and I feel sorry for the dog. Unlike the idiots that choose to call themselves aggy.
I worked with a guy a while back who was a former member of the corps. We had some beers one night and I was asking him about some of their freakshow hazing rituals. When talk turned to Reveille he said, "I hated that ******* dog. Almost all of us did."
He wasn't some 2%'er either. Graduated, got a commission, flew fighters, proudly wears his ring, etc...
That dog is going to need some serious counseling. She may never be able to turn her backside to another man in uniform without fear of being molested in some sick way.
"I remember one time when I came back to my room where she was sleeping, and she had her head in one of my cowboy boots. Little memories like these make the time with her special."
