Good God Dallas

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but Austin's d-bag ratio is starting to creep up there. Especially when you take into account the frat boy factor. Now I'm not saying all frat boys are d-bags, just the ones that dress, talk, and act exactly alike. You know, the khaki pants, flip-flops, sunglasses around the neck even at night guys. But as said above, it can be easily avoided, you just have to know where to go.

i like this thread. it's pretty funny. lonestar guido, swamp guido. some stellar contributions, hornfans. i particularly like this post, though:

After looking at some of these pictures and hearing some of these stories, I'm surprised people still dress like this.

Do you think in 10 years these people will look back at these pictures and cringe like older people do while watching Miami Vice? They'll wonder if people really did dress like that.

Cities have reputations. And when people are in those cities, they feel like they have to live up to that reputation to fit in. As the old saying goes, "When in Rome . . ."

When in Dallas, a lot of people think they need to show out and dress like a douche. Same with L.A.

When in Boulder or Berkeley, it's Birkenstocks and hemp shirts.

When in NYC and SF and Seattle, it's hip urban gear.

When in D.C., it's usually business casual or power suits.

Things like that. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

Thankfully, there are plenty of places in Dallas where you don't have to dress like a douche to fit in. The key is knowing a local who can take you to those places.

Nuclear, they are knock offs... from china. i know someone who sells them. how do you think they sell them for $70 dude? she pays about $18 and sells them for $70. some of them are very good knockoffs depending on the brand. but they make them for ALL brands. rockin republic, true religion, all that ****. unless they are used or two year old styles you are buying knockoffs.

of course, the correct term in that business is "replicas".

on a side note, she had a whole shipment of true religions seized at customs. the reason? they had a "made in the usa" tag on them.

of course it's real. it was bought and paid for with one of their 10 credit cards for which they are being charged 18% interest. so when they finally pay off that watch, their $1000 watch will end up costing them $3000. but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to bling out. and the chics dig it. or maybe the other lonestar guidos dig it more.

it used to be said that women dress up not for men but to compete with other women. i think that can now be said about the lonestar guidos, except they dress to compete against other LGs. prancing peacocks.

I work on the corporate side of retail and let me tell you there is no pair of jeans in the world that is worth $200 and I don't care what anyone on this board says. The $200 jeans come from the same sweatshops the $30 Levi's come from. Trust me on this one. You're paying for the brand name and that's it.

Some things really are better the more they cost. A pair of Jeans is not one of them.

**** douchebags. to hell with all the lonestar guidos..

haha, i love it. "lonestar guidos"... that is going on myspace.

I, for one, have no intention of stopping wearing a watch. For me, it is FAR, FAR more convenient to take a quick glance at my wrist than to dig my phone out of my pocket, flip it open and squint at the tiny time readout, then have to go and put it away again.

Ain't nothin' wrong with a good watch. Again, it's not the one thing. A guy with a Tag is just a guy with a Tag. A guy with a Tag, a salon tan, DG Jeans, square toed shoes, untucked verticle striped shirt, and hair product equals Douche.

I've avoided this thread for some time now because it pisses me off to no end. Those individuals you see ON greenville hopped on the ************* dart train from NoDal (north dallas) and invaded my general vicinity. They are not from Dallas(neither are the people from ******* Mesquite or ******* Sachse...where the **** is that btw?). These.....people.....are nothing more than a nusance. I view them with general disdain.

Garbage.

Put me in the ctaegory of preferring to look at my watch for the time and not at my GD phone. In fact, more often than not, I'd rather put my phone on a skeet launcher and blast away at the MFer.
