Good BLog By Justice on Longhorn Football

His points about Mack are spot on.

It is unbelieveable to me that some of the UT fan base still think Mack 'sucks' and that he 'underachieves'.

He is a superb CFB coach and I honestly think he is going to be a lot more respected when you see how difficult it will be for the next coach to continue rattling off 10+ win seasons.

I've never read much of RJ's stuff but that piece was crap. There were about 4 or 5 grammatical errors in there, he came off as pompous (reassuring all of his readers multiple times that he will take advantage of how important he is to help mere mortals learn more about UT football) and it wasn't even interesting. It doesn't take much at all to get me hyped up about the thought of UT football, and football in general, starting up again, but that article did nothing for me.

Houston is aggy-centric, so you wouldn't expect them to like what Justice had to say about UT. There was one interesting followup...the poster who said Texas provides a main rival for most of the Big 12. The comment about the unlikely schools in the north that hate Texas is an unlikely compliment. You don't spend much time hating on something or someone you easily beat. UT is one of the biggest games for more than aggy and okie. Who cares whether or not the rest of the Big 12 likes the Horns...the fact is that beating Texas is a big deal. The same can't be said for a lot of the rest of the conference. Justice was very right about Texas...it's a very special place, and no amount of hating by those who aren't TEXAS is gonna change that. (...to the aggy that talked about "throwing up in his mouth"...go do it some more...you might find something that tastes good to you.)

Was I the only one who thought how tiny DKR Memorial looked with the old endzone? It just looked tiny comparied to all the new pics of the NEZ redo.

No doubt UT has a large alumni presence in Houston. Perhaps they're just not as visible and vocal as fans of agricultural. I travel a lot, and a lot to Houston, and I can go days north, east, or south of the loop without seeing anyone oviously a UT fan. I can't go half a mile without running into aggy fan. THAT's why Houston comes across as aggy-centric. That's also a major reason why you take your life in your hands driving the loop. Maybe UT fans stick to the beltway.

The burbs have a higher concentration of Ags than in town. We live in Meyerland. My son plays ball primarily with kids from Meyerland, Bellaire, West U, and Post Oak. It's about 4/1 Horns to Ags. I always see more Ags when we're playing in Sugar Land or Katy.

Yes, we run this place. The numbers do not matter.

Same reason why Rice grads are more relevant than Coogs.

Most UT grads live inside the loop/tanglewood/memorial area. The aggies live primarily in the burbs, ie katy, woodlands, clear lake and sugarland and then drive in to go out and have a good time...kind of like all the aggies you see in austin on the weekends.

Reference aggy here in Austin...it always struck me as funny that while they're over at Bagdad on the Brazos, they think of Austin as both Sodom and Gomorrah. Just as soon as they get their little maroon diplomas, they can't wait to move to Austin. I guess it's true that the only sign of intelligent life in BCS is the one that says Austin 90 Miles. Oh well...at least you can find a decent vet around here.

I'm surprised that Governor Good Hair, ex-aggy yell leader that he is, hasn't tried to move the state capitol closer to Snook.
