Horns down by ten and not looking too good for our team. But Brit is on the shooting 2 FTs and still just under four minutes left. Need a few stops and some goals to pull this one out.
Consistency. We haven't had it for 4 years. About the same amount of time we haven't had a strong leader on the floor. It's a shame because there has been plenty of talent. We just seem to be missing that one player who acts as the glue.
We don't have a go-to player. OU has Paris, A&M has Starks, Baylor has Player and Wilson. When the game gets tight we just don't have that player who we know is going to get us a bucket.
My goodness but any semblance of a half-court offense is nonexistent. This is the second game in a row where the team appeared confused on offense. Maybe it's time to draw up some new plays?
seemed as if we TRIED to step up the tempo in the 2nd half and play a&m's game with them...didn't work. i liked the slow first half much better and feel like we could've done a better job staying in the zone and keeping the slower pace.
but, of course when you play sloppy and get down by double digits (and of course turn the ball over like nothing), the quicker pace has to surface. we just don't have 5 players giving this pace at the same time when we need it.
On to Mizzou.......Yvonne should feel the need to show her stuff this game!!!
Looking the box score, we simply did not have a low post scorin presence in this game. Our 4 and 5 players combined for two field goals. It will be tough to win in the NCAAs with no post presence.
Coach G didn't play Lindsey or AG at all in the 2nd half.
i think they each had like 9 minutes total for the game. i don't know why they got benched again. haven't read any quotes about it. so yeah, not much of a low post presence at all. defensively i thought it really helped having a big presence when we were running the zone in the 1st half. we were disrupting their offense, changing/blocking shots, and getting steals. not so much in the 2nd half.
I didn't see the game but this loss has to be very frustrating for Coach G. Ouch that she hasn't been able to beat the Aggies since her arrival. Ouch that Coach Conradt was attending the game to see the team lose.
Looking at the remaining games, Missouri should be beatable. But at Kansas State and home games vs Baylor and OU, I don't know.
Hate to sound negative but I just don't have a good feeling about the team and whether they will be able to respond positively and bring some pride back for this season.
i don't really know about the coaching strategy. i just think that when Gant went down in the 2nd half, after the collision with AT, we should have taken advantage of that. used more size inside to draw fouls against Micheaux and try to take her out of the game, too. A&M is a team of guards, and they defend the perimeter very well. i know our post game hasn't been all that effective, but to open up the outside against a team like A&M, you have to work the ball inside....even if it's just to pass it in and then kick it back out.
I think A. Elonu was the difference maker in this game. She scored 10 points. Someone forgot to scout her. She was a much better offensive player than Micheaux and took it to us. Elonu was hitting and Erika was missing = A&M win.
