Gingrich To Obama: Let's Debate, Teleprompters OK

McBrett- There was another thread about this a few days ago. In that thread the article was pasted about the specifics of Newt's first divorce. The wife filed for it. She wasnt on her death bed as she is alive and well today. I was referring to people still spouting the lie even after it was proven untrue. Maybe you missed the other thread.

Charlie Sheen? No I wouldnt vote for Charlie Sheen. Comparing his character to Newt's is absurdly silly.

I am certainly experienced enough to know that there are 2 sides to any story involving relationships and divorce. We really have no idea what was going on in Newt's marriages.

Would I rather he didnt have those issues. I suppose. I'm not necessarily a Newt supporter anyway. I do think he has some very good ideas and is more common sensical than most politicians. I do think we would get what we see with Newt. I was fooled badly by this by BO.

The debate challenge is red meat for the base on the right. There is no way he follows Obama around from city to city.

The challenge hit its target though. What was someone saying about "substantive debate"?

Bronco,

Fair enough. I realize there is controversy over whether the wife was dying or recovering at the time. And yes she is alive, but yes she was seriously ill too. As I said in another post- ignoring that episode- the other 2 or 3 are also dubious at best. We know what an age difference looks like, and we know what the jobs were at the time, and we know the timing of said events. Maybe a marriage deserves to end, but if you re-marry 6 months later you can't tell me the next wife wasn't somehow involved during the previous marriage.

No one's perfect- I'm not, you're not. But, we're also not running for POTUS on the party that brands itself as the one who cares for families the most, we didn't lead a movement in the 1990's to impeach Clinton because he did something similar to what Newt did.

I just think Newt is more smirky than he is intelligent. Jon Huntsman is the most intelligent GOP candidate and that is perhaps why in part he isn't as popular as Cain or Bachmann. Christie would have had my vote- but that's not happening. So, it's probably Obama at this point with mixed feelings. Besides- I prefer a mixed government especially if they figure out how to work with each other.

mcbrett
This from you is intriguing
"Christie would have had my vote- but that's not happening. So, it's probably Obama at this point with mixed feelings. "

They are pretty far apart on core issues. Why if you really want Christie would you then vote for Obama?

He would not vote for Christie. That is absurd. If I remember correctly, his big complaint about Obama is he has not been liberal enough.

It makes you feel important when people have to lie about things you say .. right Mojo and 6721? Well of course 6721- your issue is just you don't understand what Obama is about as your days are filled with blog readings, some of which we're lucky to get links from here on the board.

I35- I think we covered this topic 5 times, but again, for you, I have and so have others noted that there was controversy about the death bed issue. Surviving a deadly disease doesn't make the bed not so 'death-like' nor does it make the extra-marital affairs with staffers and younger women go away. Nor does it make you not hypocritical if you're persecuting President Clinton for essentially the same thing he was doing at the same exact time.

I35- Clearly you like Newt- and good for you, but the same topic that was relevant for Clinton, Sen. Edwards, Cain, and Gary Hart- is very relevant today. That's the way it works. Hey, compared to Cain he's the family guy now.

I meant what I said about Christie- why it's hard for some of you to grasp that is you will only ever vote for one party, and have one similar train of thought. Not everyone votes or acts that way- and the moderates just don't whine as much or start as many threads as the folks who live, breathe and die one party.

mcbrett, okay so what if she survived her death bed, you didn't address the part that he served her papers for divorce when she was the one that did it. Not only that but her and her daughter both say he was there to visit her. Just continue to skip over that part. As for as being unfaithful, He's acknowledged this and is now claiming to be a christian man since then. I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt. He's changed from many years ago but I understand why you would try to hang on to it when you really have nothing else and no way you can defend Obama's record. So just keep on deflecting. Obama did drugs and it wasn't held against him as he got elected. People are more concerned what he's done to our country now.

As of now I am voting for him because I think we are at the most critical time of our life and it can't be screwed up after we get Obama out of the way. But if he does not get elected, I know any of the GOP candidates will be much better than what we got. I'd rather take a chance on who we don't know how he or she will do as President over how we know Obama is as president. Our kids and grand kids are depending on America to be much smarter than we were in 2008.

I35- I really don't care about Newt's first ex-wife out of 3 marriages he has had, and if you are willing to give him not one pass but many passes and call him a Christian because you like him- kudos to you.

Newt is a pseudo intellectual whose primary message during the debates so far has been that the "media is out to get him and the GOP." That crap sticks on the wall for the local conspiracy theorists, but not a general election.

I definitely give breaks for isolated events- but we're talking 20 years of a pattern of leaving women under questionable circumstances, having affairs, and zero care for large age differences. You know we are avoiding the 1.2 million dollar fee he collected for talkin 'history' for Freddie Mac, and how Mr. Fiscal Conservative justifies blowing 7 digits on shiny rocks at jewelry stores for his new young little wife. (Young for a guy like Newt)- and while people should do whatever the F they want with their own money- don't portray your fiscal conservatism to me while also blowing it like a ***** in Vegas.

He is no Christie- Christie walks the walk that Newt wishes he could do. Christie makes actual budget cuts that matter, he is intelligent, he is a moderate, he is not a conspiracy theorist like some of your supporters here, and he could win a general election. Christie was Obama worst nightmare- now, he was given a present in the form of Newt and Romney- which scares guys like me all the way back to Barack.
