Gilbert to announce college plans Thurs

Eh...wow..so what are our chances with this guy? Would make me feel a lot better..

Then again..to say it's early is a drastic understatement

Is this a good thing for us? Does he have UT ties?
wiered that he is making the decision before visiting us or anyone else.

Gilbert to announce college plans Thursday
By Danny Davis | Wednesday, February 6, 2008, 04:22 PM

Lake Travis quarterback Garrett Gilbert plans on ending a lot of suspense Thursday. The day after members of the Class of 2008 were first allowed to sign letters of intent, Gilbert will announce his college plans at an afternoon press conference at the school.

Gilbert, a junior, is regarded as one of the more heralded recruits in the state. He was recently given a five-star rating by Rivals.com and is ranked on the website as the 12th-best prospect in the nation for the class of 2009.

According to Rivals.com, he has already received offers from Texas A&M, Nebraska and Texas Tech. Gilbert was expected to take part in the University of Texas’ junior days this weekend.

This season, Gilbert set single-season state records for passing yards, completions and attempts and also quarterbacked the Cavs to their first-ever state championship.

Wait..how can he even have an offer from us? Mack doesn't hand those out until they've come in right?

He has offers from tech, nebraska, and the aggies.

Could be a giant aggie coup

This can't be good news if he doesn't even have a UT offer yet.

Maybe he's worried about our recruitment of Shepard.

Watching film on GG, he is a very very good QB. Can throw almost every throw in HS and is good on the run. Seem very poised also. Good size and he is someone who i think is athletic enough to run our current O, in that he can run a bit. He wont kill you with his legs but he will move the chains. His dropback and motion reminds me of Brantly (UF) but i hope his decision will be different. He is in our back yard and if we continue to mostly(99%) recruit our great state than he is a must. Cant wait for his decision tomorrow.
GG we hope to welcome you into our

family.

UT may be in the top 1 of the 1 school he is trying to decide upon. He also lists Texas and the Longhorns among those he will weigh in his selection process. Let's hope we somehow come to the forefront here.

This would be outstanding, I mean OUTSTANDING news.

My number one choice of the 09 class.

I've seen him play and a buddy is an opposing coach. He thinks he's the best QB he's coached against.

I like to think Mack's comments answered at least some questions.

I've always believed Texas would be the perfect fit for the kid, and no reason why UT would not want him. It's just a matter of how to work it out and do it appropriately.

Tomorrow he commits to Texas and then can enjoy the rest of his Jr year for the spring, and run for another title with the new coach and turn off his cellphone.

If true, I hope Signing Gilbert doesn't hurt our chances with Shepard, I've read that hes opened to playing other positions, However he does want a chance at QB. From what I've seen of Shep hes just s weapon on the field. Even if hes playing RB/WR position that would be sick...basically I want mack to clean up in Texas..lol..i think we can all agree on that.

I hope we get him. That would make up for the dissappointment we had with D. Scott. Garrett: come to texas, win the heisman.. nuff sed'

We havent even offered yet. He will be coming to our junior day this weekend but its wierd because he is announcing today(thursday)! So most likely hes not thinking about Texas.
