You are right and I misspoke. The quote in the article is Sheppard repeating what he says he was told by Mack. I am wrong on that part.
Dallas,
You are right. There is no way Texas should have 6 quarterbacks on their roster. I do think there will be a move before next Fall be it John Chiles switching a position or someone transferring . Texas has got a log-jam with Colt having two more years as the starter and Chiles, Harris, Kinne, and Gilbert in 2009.
Then again, it wouldn't be the first time Texas' roster was imbalanced. While they can't seem to find defensive tackles the roster has 11 defensive backs with only one a senior and the thought being Texas will take 3 in 2009.
How about 12 players currently at wide receiver and only 2 being seniors and none being juniors? The immediate thought is that Chiles move to wide receiver which is fine, but you have to wonder at which point and time do some of these players start to produce.
I agree with Bundy on Sheppard. He is a great athlete, but in the two games I saw him play he looked like a great athlete playing quarterback and not a great athletic quarterback like when I saw Vince at Madison.
My two points again are that I find it interesting when you consider the problems Texas has had at times in landing quarterback prospects that if Brown could land Gilbert and say the kid from Brownwood he would only take one and the fact that we are talking about space on a roster in February when this team has gone through Spring practice yet, I have to believe someone transfers to get playing time, and it is a long, long time before 2009 yet people talk like these things are set in stone.
