Gene Hackman. RIP

This is sad. It’s worrisome that many elderly people live alone without family or friends who regularly check on them. It sounds like, in this case, the caregiver wife died, and Hackman lacked the ability to care for himself.
 
Yes, but I blame the daughter most of all for not checking in with a father you know can't take care of himself more often. If you're not going to put him in a nursing home at least hire a home caregiver. I can't imagine $ being an issue.
 
To your point RP even if his wife who looked to be in good health too great care of him the daughter could/should have called his wife every other day just to check in. Didn't the daughter say it had been a month?
