Gary Patterson Fired!

When the news first broke at the SEC meeting I posted "This is a bad idea riding on a runaway train". We'll be lucky to be Auburn.

It's interesting to me that our downturn (2010-2021) coincided with the Big 12's diminishment. To be honest, though, nearly all of our teams from the last decade would be mediocre in any league.

How do you imagine the 1998-2009 Horns would have fared in the SEC?

Hard to say. 98-03 probably 8 or 9 wins. 0-4 10 or 11. 05 every game. 06-07 8 or 9. 08-09 10 or 11. That's regular season only.

Yeah I tend to agree because the SEC wasn't "SEC" dominant until the emergence of Bama. Florida and LSU were kind of the standard-bearers, and even when Miles won the national championship, one could argue that it wasn't a truly masterful year.

Texas will be a&m at worse. After you get past Alabama, Georgia and LSU (most years) and Florida (some years) the $EC is not very good (probably on par with the middle of the Big XII). In fact, the $EC East (minus Georgia and Florida) is on par with the last two Big XII teams.

They are overrated for ESPN purposes.

They have a statue of an *******?

Yep! And here it is . . .

Two other things I note about his tenure at TCU:

1 - they switched between 5 different conferences: WAC, CUSA, MWC, Big East, Big 12 (never played a game in the Big East, but they agreed to join before jumping to the Big 12 instead). Also, when Patterson first came on staff as defensive coordinator they still had upperclassmen who had been in the SWC.

2 - they were never shut-out in any of his 260 games.

Great track record. Which teams will put out feelers?

Seeing as how Cincinnati is joining the B12, I took a look at their records for the past few years, back to the 2009 season. Not the best in the west, but they do make bowl appearances now an again and since 2009 they are 4-5 in bowl games. They also have a couple of down seasons after the HC heads for greener pastures and a new coach comes in. Don't know how they will do in the B12 though.

Lol...agreed. i firmly feel believing you are untouchable is a fireable offense in and of itself in any organization

I mentioned earlier in the thread he probably attacked someone in the administration which is why he lost his job. If this untouchable comment to players is true he probably said something then told them this too.
