Lakes got worked. They were forced to quit with a half of BB left to play. I mean, they were ran onto the plane back to Cali with more than two quarters left. They were just hanging around taking it. No spirit left whatever.
Boston gets all respect. They played great as a team, had bench guys like Posey and house step up, and the big names produced.
People may want to get on Kobe, and there is no doubt his 'leadership' methodology needs polish, but this team showed no heart, no fight, no versatility, etc. Granted, they were not supposed to do anything this year til Bynum started playing well, then he got hurt, then expectations rose again with Gasol's arrival. Clearly this was not a stacked team. Some good depth, some good length, but, as the Celts demonstrated, they lacked athleticism and aggression, the latter of which comes to some degree with experience. The Celts played great. I hate them, but they took it to my boys in the ways that I respect most. Physical, smart, tenacious.
Lakes are no lock for the finals in years to come. The comp will be tough and Bynum may not wholly recover his form. He only played about 20 games at a level that was pointing toward elite. They are going to have to develop, and perhaps find a big that can be physical and shoot (hard to locate).
Now the long wait until football. Uggh.
