Well...I will preface this by saying bad calls happen in baseball...but this one couldn't have "happened" in a more crucial spot.

Ball hit to Torres, not particularly sharply, he mishandles the ball....it squirts away....and apparently makes contact with the OU runner heading from 2nd to 3rd. The ump decides the the OU runner is impeding Torres ability to field the ball - calls him out AND wipes a run off the board.

Game changes from 6-4 with bases loaded and 1 out to 6-3, 2 outs, runners on the corners.

A really bad call....but I will stand by my earlier post on great Horn pitching and clutch hitting.

The bases were still loaded after the interference call, they only called one runner out. The reasoning I heard (whether it's right or not) was that the ump(s) must have decided that Torres could've gone home with the ball if he hadn't been "interfered" with, so that's why the run came off the board.

The explainer wasn't commenting on if the call was right or not, just explaining what the ump was thinking, maybe.

Fungi...you may be right on the bases being loaded. I guess they let all runners advance except for Ellison (called out on phantom interference) and the runner heading from 3rd to home.

Who knows...it was a bad call and cluster after the fact.
