AND...he is now going to the USFL...Michigan apparently drew the short straw.

Time will tell how long before he ruins even more careers...sadly, being in the USFL, some of those COULD be people on the rise as opposed to just some group of has-beens or never-was players.

Again, I don't care if y'all don't like Fisher, but the majority of your anger should be focused on Norm Chow, who defied Bud Adams and really screwed VY over.

SH, my dislike of Fisher extends beyond the VY situation. His demeanor always exuded arrogance and a know-it-all attitude. His record over many years did not justify the level of respect he received. I may be mistaken but I suspect that few coaches who hung in the league as long as Fisher did have a worse post season record.

The guy was over-hyped. He didn’t deserve it.

I'm not as familiar with the details of the Vince screwover as the rest of you seem to be. Can you explain this?

Chow was the OC at the time, right? Hadn't he also coached at USC?

Thanks.

1983,

Chow was at USC for their National Championship in 2004 and a couple of years before that. He was OC for the Titans in 2005. I'm not sure if it was personal or he was making a power play to tell Bud Adams to stay out of player selection. He did not want VY and was willing to scuttle the ship to prove he was right.

Fisher may be lots of things, but overwhelmingly stupid isn't one of them. He knew his job was riding on keeping Bud Adams happy, and Bud Adams wanted VY. It created friction between Fisher & Chow, and ultimately resulted in Chow being sent packing - outplacement can be a marvelous thing.

If Fisher knew he had to keep Adams happy over VY then why didn't he work harder at bringing VY along? Why did he allow Chow to have control of Vince?

Thanks SH. I guess Chow wanted Leinart, being from USC. If so, that makes me wonder about his talent evaluation ability.

I also can never help but wonder what might have been, both for VY and for UT, if Vince had stuck around for his senior season.

6721,

Fisher was a defensive guy, and he relied on Chow to run his offense. Chow had a great reputation at that time as a QB whisperer, many thought the best in the game. Look at his career just before and after Nashville - never very long anywhere because he wore out his welcome very quickly.

Fisher walked a tightrope between his owner and his OC, when he should have dropped the hammer on Chow and gone after a Leach protege.

How bitter do you think VY is?

I don't know that he is. I am bitter that the Kirby Kretin Korp didn't pick him, but also thankful that he wasn't subjected to the "Cal's Cluster", which is an embarrassment to the city and the NFL.

If bitter about anything, I would think VY is bitter about his "professional advisors" and family for mishandling his money.
