SL I remember that great race in 1972 and you are correct but the race the other night had five teams that were under the world record and the other three finalist were just outside it.

No dispute this was one of the greatest relay swims ever.

It brought to mind the 4X200 freestyle final in Athens, in which, if I am remembering correctly, Klete Keller held off the great Ian Thorpe, leading by a head for the last 50m. I kept expecting Thorpe to go past him and he never did.
